Sometimes it’s the little things. I LOVE seeing my name on our door.

Hi! If you’re new here, let me introduce myself. Our practice just moved locations and I work out of a north Edmond group practice currently. I love being a counselor, and work with older teens and adults as well as some couples. I have experience working with trauma, childhood sexual abuse, grief, depression, anxiety and eating disorders. I love working with improving self worth and specifically mother wounds. It is a gift that clients give me, to get to know them so personally when they are most vulnerable, and we get to go through the highs and lows together. I am EMDR trained however love to incorporate many modalities and therapy styles to help with healing and insight and especially love it when clients want to bring in their Christian faith to sessions as I believe God is our master healer and physician.

My schedule is regularly changing so inquire if you or a loved one would like to get started.

The Ventral Vagal State (Polyvagal Theory)

The ventral vagal state is your nervous system’s safe and connected mode.
It’s when your body knows: “I’m okay right now.”

In this state, you may notice:
• Calm but alert energy
• Clear thinking and flexibility
• Emotional connection and empathy
• A regulated heart rate and breath
• Capacity for healing, learning, and relationship

This is the state where therapy, growth, and meaningful connection happen most easily.

✨ How to Gently Invite Ventral Vagal Regulation

You don’t force calm—you create safety.
Here are simple, body-based ways to support your nervous system:

🤍 Warm connection
A kind voice, safe eye contact, shared laughter, or being with someone who feels steady

🌬 Breath & rhythm
Slow breathing with longer exhales, humming, singing, or gentle rocking

🧘 Soften the body
Relax the jaw, drop the shoulders, unclench the hands, soften your gaze

👀 Orient to safety
Look around and name what feels neutral or pleasant right now

🫂 Co-regulation matters
Your nervous system heals best in the presence of other regulated nervous systems

Joy is a choice. What choices can you make today that help you cultivate and see joy in front of you? Hint, the more you do this and make these positive choices (gratitude, noticing, grounding-being present in the here and now) the more your pretty little joy garden will grow. 🌻
Philippians 4:6–7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Psalms 118:24

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

John 15:11

“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

George Müller

“The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith, and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.”

C. S. Lewis

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

Elisabeth Elliot

“Today is mine. Tomorrow is not yet born.”

Worry borrows tomorrow’s troubles, or troubles from the future. Stay in the here and now. You have strength and capability for handling what’s right in front of you (yes you do!!!). Future you will be able to handle whatever comes, especially if you have God‘s help. Don’t know how to tap into that? I would love to have a free conversation with you anytime!

One step at a time is the way to becoming better. Thinking too far ahead can sometimes be overwhelming. What’s your next right move? Just do that. Then the next, then the next, then the next…
Small, consistent, disciplined steps will get you there - and do it with grace and compassion for yourself when you mess up.

Where will you find joy today? Can it be in everyday moments of gratitude, deliberately seeking beauty, or stumbling upon wonder? Joy is hiding in plain sight. Take the time to discover it and see the difference it can make in your life.

Brené Brown says choose discomfort over resentment. One moment of discomfort when you say “no”, is a lot easier than saying yes and actually having to do the thing.
Get better at saying “no”, or asking for what you need right away, and save yourself the resentment of having to follow through later.
Practice today! You are worth speaking up for and are worthy of someone accepting your “no”.

Feeling the weariness too? Yeah. I’m there. I understand.

Hang in there. Press on. Let’s remember our purpose (to glorify God in all things).
