The National Center for PTSD estimates that about five out of every 100 adults in the U.S. experience PTSD in a given year and about six out of every 100 people will experience PTSD at some point in their lives.

Using drugs or alcohol can make symptoms worse. Over 45 percent of adults with PTSD also have problems with drug or alcohol use, according to the National Center for PTSD.

Our team helps patients address substance use, mental health and trauma together, with care designed around the person, not just the diagnosis.

There is help. There is a road forward.

Understanding insurance benefits can be a huge hurdle people face when seeking addiction recovery treatment.

We are in-network with many major commercial insurance providers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, HealthChoice, UHC Choice Plus, UMR and more. If we are not in-network with your plan, our team may be able to work with your out-of-network benefits to help make treatment more accessible.

To learn more about accepted insurance options or starting treatment, call 405-216-2500.

A recent study of sober living house residents found that giving help to others was associated with lower odds of alcohol use. The study also found that receiving help from other sober living residents and 12-step attendees was associated with lower odds of alcohol-related problems.

While everyone’s recovery journey is different, the findings point to something we see often: support matters. Whether it is offering encouragement, accepting help or simply showing up for someone else, connection plays an important role in healing.

Because sober living houses are abstinence-based, future research should examine whether these findings generalize to recovery residences that allow for a range of recovery goals. This study should…

“I grew up believing that the opposite of addiction was sobriety.”

Through our intensive outpatient program, one former patient found support from peers who understood her struggles, encouragement during vulnerable moments and the confidence to keep moving forward in recovery.

Through her journey, she discovered that recovery is about more than sobriety.

“Connection is the opposite of addiction,” she shared. “I am so grateful to Arcadia Trails IOP for accepting me at a time that I was very vulnerable in my sobriety. I have made lifelong connections that will help me not only maintain sobriety but also give me lifelong memories when I really need them. I know now that I will always need friends. I will always need connection.”

National Prevention Week is a reminder that prevention is not just one conversation, one resource or one moment. It is the ongoing work of building support, connection and healthy coping skills before someone reaches a crisis point.

✅ Check in often
✅ Listen without judgment
✅ Remind them they are not alone
✅ Encourage them to seek professional support

Helping someone find support or even just making space for an honest conversation can make a difference.

This week is National Prevention Week, a time to recognize the importance of preventing substance use and supporting mental well-being in our communities.

Prevention can start small: checking in on someone, talking openly about stress, creating healthy coping skills or connecting a loved one with support before things become overwhelming.

We believe education, compassion and early support can make a lasting difference.

Trauma can begin with a sudden injury, accident or medical event. As recovery continues, pain, stress, and prescription medications can create new challenges that can increase the risk of substance use or dependency.

Healing means looking at the whole person, including trauma, pain, mental health and long-term support. This Trauma Awareness Month, we encourage anyone struggling after trauma, injury or substance use to reach out for help.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about alcohol use disorder, reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support when alcohol begins affecting their health, relationships or daily life.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, alcohol-related problems continue to affect individuals, families and communities, and alcohol misuse is associated with more than 200 disease and injury-related conditions.

Whether you are thinking about cutting back, concerned about a loved one or ready to seek treatment, help is available. Recovery is possible. You do not have to face it alone.
