Why isn't the b***y growing? 🍑 It might not be your program. It might be your pelvic floor.

Your pelvic floor and hip muscles work as a team. When your pelvic floor is tight or not coordinating well, it can limit hip range of motion and change how your glutes fire. That can mean all those squats and hip thrusts aren't giving you the gains you're working for. (Especially if you feel it in your back, hamstrings or quads!!!)

Improving pelvic floor health and range of motion can help your glutes recruit better. Better recruitment, better results.

Fix the foundation, then build the b***y and keep it healthy while you build. Request a consultation at the link in bio, or call (425) 582-0727.

Pregnancy has a knack for waking up every old injury you’ve ever had. That’s why we start with your whole history, not just your pelvis.

Stop crunching up out of bed. Roll to your side first, then push up through your hand and elbow together while you swing your legs over. Exhale on the way up. Doing this every time protects your abdominal wall and takes the downward pressure off your pelvic organs.

Controversial take: the position doesn’t matter. What matters is where YOUR pelvic floor opens best. We actually test this during treatment to find where your third layer expands most and where you have the most control. And if your body asks for something different in the moment, listen to it.

Step 3: Learn How to “Breathe Baby Out”

When it comes to delivery, the uterus is the powerhouse that pushes your baby out—not your conscious pushing muscles. The problem? Many birthing people end up holding their breath and straining for hours, which can increase tearing, trauma, and the need for interventions like forceps or vacuum assistance.

By practicing diaphragmatic breathing during pregnancy, you train your pelvic floor to relax and open. This makes it easier for your uterus to do its job and helps you avoid unnecessary strain.

If pushing is needed, open-glottis pushing (exhaling gently while bearing down, rather than breath-holding) can protect your tissues and reduce tearing.

Practice this now so it’s automatic later. Inhale open, exhale recoil. Over and over until your body knows it without thinking.

The more that pelvic floor can elongate, the less damage you take and the faster you recover. That’s the whole case for birth prep.

You have about 40 weeks of this hormone reshaping your joints. Working with a pelvic PT through it heads off a lot of the aches before they start.

Just found out you’re pregnant? Congratulations, mama! 🤍

Before the nursery and the baby name, start here: take a deep breath. Your breath, core and pelvic floor are some of your greatest tools for birth, and the prep you do now helps you deliver with less straining and heal faster afterward.

Your future self will thank you. 💪

Tight pelvic floors lose their range of motion and lose strength with it. Expansion is what you need, not more squeezing.
