Colonoscopy screenings can play an important role in preventive health. 🩺

According to the American Cancer Society, adults at average risk should begin colorectal cancer screening at age 45 and continue through age 75. A colonoscopy is considered the “gold standard” screening test and, if results are normal, is typically repeated every 10 years. For adults ages 76 to 85, the decision to continue screening depends on overall health, life expectancy and prior screening history.

Through our Specialty Clinic, Jackson County Hospital District helps connect patients with gastroenterology care close to home. If you have questions about your screening timeline or personal risk, talk with your primary care provider about next steps. 🗓️🔎
