A lot of people think couples therapy means learning to "use I statements" and calling it a day. That's part of it. It's not the whole thing.

Real couples work includes psychoeducation, understanding what's actually happening underneath the argument. Is this a communication gap, or is one of you carrying something that's never been named? Burnout that looks like distance. A trauma response that looks like defensiveness. A pattern one of you has seen before, in other relationships, and can't quite break.

Naming it accurately is half the work. The other half is what you do next.

If you've ever thought "we communicate fine, so why does this keep happening," drop a 🙋 below.

Trauma doesn't always show up as a breakdown. Sometimes it shows up as pulling away right when things get close. Reacting bigger than the moment calls for. Going quiet when you actually need to be heard.

Your partner sees the reaction. They don't always see what's underneath it, and neither do you, until someone names it.

That's part of what couples work is for. Not just learning to talk better. Learning what's actually driving the pattern.

Save this for the next time you catch yourself reacting before you understand why.

You've held it together for so long that admitting something's wrong feels like undoing all of it. Here's the thing: functioning well doesn't mean nothing happened. It means you found a way to keep going. Both can be true. Working with someone who understands that means you don't have to fall apart to be taken seriously. You don't have to prove it first.

Something happens. You react. And then you spend the next hour hating that you reacted that way. If that loop is familiar, it's not a character flaw. It's often an old response showing up in a new moment, one that made sense given what it was protecting you from at the time. No one around you would know anything is wrong. That's part of what makes it exhausting to carry alone.

We're growing, and we're looking for the right clinician to grow with us.

CLS Counseling & Consulting is a telehealth group practice licensed in Missouri and Illinois. We're hiring a fully licensed therapist with specialty experience in women’s issues, burnout, perfectionism, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and/or ADHD.

This is a 1099 independent contractor role with real infrastructure behind it. We handle billing, insurance credentialing, admin, and client referrals. You handle the clinical work.

Compensation is a percentage of collections; 60% to start, scaling to 80% at higher caseload volumes, paid every other Friday.

Who we're looking for:
• Fully independent licensure in MO (bonus if also licensed in IL) - LPC, LCPC, or LCSW — no supervision requirements
• Evidence-based, action-oriented clinical approach
• Comfortable working independently in a virtual setting
• Ready to build a real caseload without the overhead of solo practice

Our clients are high-functioning and emotionally aware people who want therapy that actually moves the needle; not just a place to talk about their feelings. Our clinicians match that energy.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, email [email protected] with your license type and state(s), specialty or niche, preferred hours, and target sessions per week.
Attach your resume or just introduce yourself; either works.

Feel free to share with anyone in your network who might be a good fit.

Have you ever thought, "Why do I keep ending up in the same situation?"
If so, you're not alone.
Many of the ways we respond in relationships aren't personality flaws they're patterns our minds and bodies learned to help us feel safe.
The challenge is that what once protected us doesn't always serve us later in life.
The good news? Patterns can change.
The first step is recognizing them. The next is learning and practicing new responses that feel healthier, safer, and more connected.
Swipe through to learn why these patterns develop—and why changing them is possible.

Have you ever felt like you've done everything you're "supposed" to do?
You've read the books. Filled the journals. Reflected on your past. You understand your patterns better than ever.
And somehow...you're still feeling stuck.
If that's your experience, it doesn't mean you're doing something wrong.
Understanding yourself is an important part of healing but it's only one part. Lasting change also comes from learning new ways to respond when life gets hard.
You don't have to figure that out on your own.

If you're ready to move beyond insight and into lasting change, we'd love to help. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation through the link in our bio.

You've probably spent time trying to understand your patterns.
Maybe you've read the books, listened to the podcasts, or had moments where everything suddenly made sense.
And yet, when stress shows up, you find yourself reacting in the same ways all over again.
If that sounds familiar, you're not failing.
Understanding yourself is important, but lasting change usually takes more than insight alone. It takes practicing new ways of responding, with support, until they begin to feel natural.
Swipe through to learn why this happens—and why it makes so much sense.
Save this post for the next time you find yourself thinking, "Why am I doing this again?"

You shouldn't have to interview your therapist to find out if your relationship is safe to talk about. An affirming space means you don't have to explain your relationship structure, your pronouns, or your family before you get to the actual work. It's just already there. Nicole works with LGBTQ+ couples who are successful, self-aware, and just tired of having the same unresolved conversation. Not in crisis. Just done pretending more talking on their own will fix it. You get concrete tools, not just a space to process out loud.

Save this if you've been looking for a space where you don't have to ask.
