As we continue giving Evergreen a little outdoor facelift, we were blessed by the incredible generosity of the Kinkelaar family.

Their mother calls Evergreen home today, and years ago she cared for others here as a nurse. This week, that legacy of caring came back home.

These men didn’t have to show up. They didn’t have to spend their day hauling mulch, loading trucks, sweating through the heat, or working side-by-side with our team from morning until evening.

They didn’t have to give up their time, their energy, their resources, or their day.

But they did.

What began as a landscaping project became something much more meaningful.

It became a reminder of what Evergreen truly is.

Not just a building.
Not just a workplace.
Not just a nursing home.

A family. A community.

A place where relationships are built over years. Where people leave a piece of their heart behind. Where former caregivers still feel connected. Where loved ones continue to pour into this community simply because it matters to them.

There was blood, sweat, sore muscles, dirty boots, and aching backs. There were truckloads of mulch, countless shovels full, and hours of labor. Through it all, there wasn’t a single complaint; only generosity, laughter, and hearts willing to serve.

The Kinkelaar family didn’t just help us spread mulch. They helped us create something beautiful for our residents. Reminding those we get to serve that they matter, they are worth showing up for, they deserve a beautiful home, and they have community.

There are moments in long-term care that remind you why this work is so special.

This was one of them.

To the Kinkelaar family: thank you. Thank you for seeing Evergreen as more than a facility. Thank you for loving this place enough to invest your time, your strength, and your hearts into it. Thank you for helping us make this community brighter, one shovel full at a time.

The flowers will bloom. The mulch will settle. The landscaping will grow.

But what we’ll remember most is the love behind it.

💙 Two Brothers. One Journey. One Incredible Outcome. 💙

Sometimes in healthcare, we're so focused on caring for residents, welcoming new admissions, supporting families, and navigating the day-to-day that we forget to pause and celebrate the victories with all of you.

This is one of those victories we simply have to share. One that represents true grit, the value of a dedicated team, and the power of brotherhood.

These two brothers came to us needing support, strength, and skilled therapy. Day by day, with determination and the guidance of our rehab team, they pushed through challenges, celebrated small wins, and kept each other motivated every step of the way.

After successfully completing their therapy journeys, they were able to discharge home together; a goal they worked incredibly hard to achieve.

And the story doesn't end there.

One of the brothers often told us that one day he'd be back on his motorcycle. Well, he sure kept that promise.

As you can imagine, there wasn't a dry eye in the building when he stopped by to visit us on his motorcycle. What a gift it was to see him independent, confident, and enjoying the life he worked so hard to get back.

Moments like these are why we do what we do. It's more than therapy and nursing care. It's bigger than just a "nursing home." It's about restoring independence, dignity, and the freedom to get back to living life.

Congratulations to these brothers on their hard work and resilience. Your journey inspired us all. 💙

Moments like these remind us that care goes beyond the bedside.

Lauren and Madi, members of our team, celebrated prom night! While in high school, these two already display what it means to care for others with compassion and heart. We are so proud of you both!

At Evergreen, we not only strive to love those we are privileged to care for, but also to foster a culture that supports and uplifts our team; celebrating growth, honoring milestones, and encouraging memories both inside and outside our walls.
