Our team had the privilege of attending 10 National Night Out events across the state, connecting with first responders and members of the community.

As leaders in behavioral healthcare serving New Jersey since 2004, we had the opportunity to spread awareness about our specialized addiction treatment programs for first responders and our other recovery programs. As New Jersey experiences more frequent and longer-lasting periods of extreme heat, taking care of one's physical and mental health is more important than ever. Extreme heat can contribute to psychological distress, worsening of existing mental health conditions, and increased risk of substance use and relapse. Adults aged 65+ with behavioral health conditions and chronic medical conditions are at greater risk of heat-related illness.

⚾ Congratulations to Egg Harbor Township's own Cameron Flukey! 🎉

Our community is celebrating an incredible accomplishment as EHTNJ - Egg Harbor Township High School alumnus Cameron Flukey has signed with the Detroit Tigers after being selected 22nd overall in the first round of the 2026 MLB Draft. His reported $3.8 million signing bonus is a testament to years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to his craft.

This month is a time to focus on the unique challenges that Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) face when it comes to mental health.

Over 60 million adults in the U.S. experienced a mental illness in the past year and over 46 million people had a substance use disorder (SUD). Only 37.9% of African American adults and 39.6% of Hispanic adults with mental illness receive treatment each year compared to the U.S. average of 50.6%. Asian American adults with mental illness are least likely to receive mental health treatment — only 36.1% of Asian adults with a mental illness received treatment in 2022.

About 5 out of every 100 adults (or 5%) in the U.S. has PTSD in any given year. First responders often throw themselves into dangerous situations and can develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse issues. So can veteran patients who grapple with the pressures of military service, military sexual trauma, chronic pain, and combat-related traumatic events.
