Word of the Week: SURRENDER
I wrote about this word back in 2023. Here I am again — because I need it more than ever this week.
That tells you something about surrender. It is not a one-time lesson. It is a practice.
This week was full. New systems. New leadership. Late nights. Poor sleep. Working Saturday. Working right now as I write this.
And here is what I know after three decades of coaching:
The grind without surrender burns you out. Every time.
Back in 1998 I had a client who paid for my services — and then resisted every recommendation I made. Nothing changed. They gifted me a hat that said "Just Surrender." They laughed. It did not help.
But the concept stayed with me.
Surrender is not weakness. It is not giving up. It is not passivity.
Surrender is releasing resistance — and allowing something better to come in.
Are you standing in your own way right now?
Knowing what to do but not doing it?
Fighting your body when it needs sleep?
Resisting the help that is right in front of you?
"Always say yes to the present moment. Surrender to what is. Say yes to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you." — Eckhart Tolle
Your challenge this week: identify one thing you have been fighting. And just say yes to it.
Stop fighting. Start flowing.
What are you ready to surrender? Drop it in the comments.
