Eight years!!
That still doesn’t feel real, but it is.
Eight years ago, Julio and I opened WellMind with a vision that was bigger than simply opening another therapy practice. We wanted to create a place where people felt genuinely cared for, where clinicians never stopped learning, and where healing went beyond just talking.
If these eight years have taught me anything, it’s that WellMind wasn’t built because we got everything right. We absolutely didn’t.
We made rookie mistakes. We learned. We adapted. We kept moving forward.
One of the biggest lessons? You can’t build culture with policies alone. Some clinicians will grow with you and build something of their own, and that’s okay. Over time I realized something important. You can’t recreate a WellMind. Our culture was built through relationships with our team, our clients, and our community.
We’ve learned that healing isn’t just about being heard. Compassion is important, but compassion paired with skill changes lives. Understanding how the brain, body, and nervous system heal continues to shape everything we do.
Today, WellMind is more than a counseling and neurofeedback practice. We’re also a training center for clinicians and have built a state-of-the-art neurofeedback program because we believe in doing it the right way, not as an add on.
To our administrative team, neurofeedback technicians, clinicians, interns, faculty, referral partners, and clients, thank you. You are the reason WellMind exists.
Our family has grown alongside WellMind too. Our kids were young when we started, and even now they’re still the first to help whenever we need them. Thank you, Austin, Maddie, Chris, Tristan, and Elias. And to Julio, thank you for believing in this dream every single day.
None of this happened because of one person. It happened because of all of you.
Happy 8th Birthday, WellMind.
Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️
