Since a little girl, I’ve been creating with my mind and hands. I was only 6 years old when a friend of the family sat down with me to make these Easter eggs. Despite the severals moves from cities, across states and even countries, I took care of my eggs with my little hands because they were my creation.

They are not intact anymore and just like me, they show some cracks, flaws and imperfections. But here they are, still standing and today, I am celebrating their 40th birthday! 🥚 👧🏻

In the pause, find the breath…💫

As I was writing the chapter “The Best Begins with Yes” in A Journey of Sunsets, I describe the main character, Brenée, as “the shape that wouldn’t square.” As soon as those words came to me, all sorts of ideas began to fill my imagination. What if I wrote a children’s book inspired by that phrase? What shape would she be? What would her story be about? And, most importantly, what lesson would I want children to take away from it?

And that’s how this story was born!

I wrote this book with future generations in mind, and for all those people who, like me, simply refuse to fit the mold!
