the original site was on Davis Street at the location of the present GTE building. The funeral home remained there until 1952 at which time it was moved further west on Davis Street in the vacated home of Dr. Charles P. In the early days of Funeral homes they were normally associated with Hardware and furniture companies. This was the case of Hayes Funeral Home. The Hayes family operated Hayes Har

A new and modern funeral home facility had already been constructed in 1969 at the present location of 431 East Davis Street in Elba. Hayes lll joined his Father in the hardware and funeral business in Oct. of 1960 and remained as owner operator of Hayes Funeral Home until 2019 at which time Hayes Funeral Home was the oldest continuously family owned funeral home in Coffee County. In 2019 Heath Wyrosdick purchased Hayes Funeral Home, he and the staff remain committed to provide excellent service and continue the care for the families of Elba and surrounding communities.
