It’s Day One of our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) program through Dr. Cshanyce Allen of Innovative Healthcare Institute, LLC at Elbert County Comprehensive High School!! I think we had some excited students this morning and look forward to their progress. They will be taking their classes all of June with their clinicals ending at Elbert Memorial Hospital, and State Board testing at the end of the month. This opportunity was provided by a Georgia Power Rural Workforce Grant completed to pay full tuitions for the students by CTAE Director Kim Fuller. We are so appreciative of the partnerships with these two agencies and their commitment to grow our rural workforce! 💙🤘

As temperatures rise across Georgia, heat-related illness becomes a very real risk — especially for older adults, children, and anyone who works or exercises outdoors. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can escalate quickly. Watch for heavy sweating, dizziness, confusion, rapid heartbeat, or nausea, and remember: by the time you feel thirsty, you may already be dehydrated.

Stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and check on your neighbors. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately. EMH emergency services are here 24/7.

Hernias don't usually go away on their own, and waiting too long to address one can turn a manageable problem into a serious emergency.

While many things can cause a hernia, here are a few common causes:

➡️ Heavy lifting and straining. [Men are up to 10 times more likely to develop groin hernias!]
➡️ Having a previous surgery can potentially weaken the surgical incision
➡️ Chronic coughing. This one especially applies to people who smoke.
➡️ Obesity is also factor; the additional weight puts extra pressure on abdominal walls.
