This sweet fur baby stopped by for their checkup and made it very clear that treats were a top priority. 🥰

With June being peak kitten season, we're seeing lots of new feline faces as kittens begin their first veterinary visits.

Whether they're a rescue, a barn kitten, or a surprise addition to the family, every kitten benefits from a healthy start. Vaccinations, parasite prevention, routine veterinary care, and spaying or neutering all help set them up for a long, healthy life.

Questions about your new kitten's care? Our team is always happy to help.

Eye exams can get weird ... and not just because pets' eyes are usually a moving target 😂

Some eye conditions have names that sound more like Harry Potter spells than a medical diagnosis. Weird things we've seen include:

👁️ Asteroid hyalosis where tiny calcium deposits float inside the eye and create a starry effect.
👁️ Corneal lipid deposits that look like milky streaks in the clear part of the eye.
👁️ Persistent pupillary membranes that appear as weblike strands across the pupil.

👀 There's even a condition called a dermoid where hair can grow on the eye when tissue develops in the wrong place.

Many of these conditions are harmless. Some are not.

Which one surprises you the most?

Ain’t no mountain high enough...or fences either. ✌️ 😂

Found Michelle straddling fences while out making farm calls with Dr. Rice. Large animal medicine is definitely not a desk job. 😜

Baby dogs are all paws, sharp teeth, and absolutely zero self control. 😆

Bella and Slider were perfect angels for their puppy visits this month, and they reminded us how important those first few months really are. Puppies are curious about everything, which also means they’re vulnerable to parasites, preventable diseases, and all the chaos that comes with summer adventures.

Starting care early gives them the best shot at a long, healthy life. If your family just added a puppy to the crew, we’d love to meet them. 📞 706-283-2761

So thankful for those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom ❤️🇺🇸

On Memorial Day we pause to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms.

Our clinic will be closed in observance of the holiday as our team spends time with family and loved ones. We hope your day is filled with good food, good company, and a little extra time outside with the pets who make life sweeter.

Call us at 706-283-2761 if your pet needs sedation for fireworks or medication refills prior to the holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, 5/26. Have a safe holiday weekend, and keep an eye on those cookout dogs. ❤️

Did you know AI (artificial insemination) plays a big role in herd health? Modern cattle herds would look very different without it.

Today, artificial insemination is used in a large portion of cattle breeding programs because it helps improve genetics, herd management, and even disease control. Frozen semen can preserve valuable genetics for years, allowing producers to improve herds across generations.

Bull samples are collected into tiny straws and stored in liquid nitrogen tanks until they're needed. During breeding, the straw is carefully thawed and the semen is placed through the cervix into the uterus. The process is quick, safe, and highly effective.

Dr. Rice works with local cattle producers to provide reproductive services and help support healthier, more productive herds right here in our community. From wellness visits to herd health management, ACVS is here for every stage of life. 📞 706-283-2761
