Just sitting here crying thinking about Bob, from his very first session with us four years ago to his very last session with our therapist, Emily, on Wednesday. šŸ’”šŸ“

Four years of little moments, big smiles, laughter, and so many memories.

He was so incredibly loved, and I’m so grateful he got to spend his last days helping our clients.

It’s with a very, very heavy heart and I can’t believe I’m making this post, but our sweet Bob crossed the rainbow bridge today.

Bob needed emergency surgery yesterday, and while the surgery itself went well, unfortunately, he suffered a stroke this morning. Despite everyone’s efforts, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

I’m so incredibly heartbroken. Bob was my go-to horse for everything. He was a huge part of our farm, our therapy program, and the lives of so many of our clients. He brought so much joy, comfort, and laughter to the children and families who got to know him.

He was truly an integral part of Tiny Voice, and he will be so incredibly missed. There will never be another Bob.

If you have a fun memory, favorite story, or picture of Bob, please share it below. I would love to fill this post with all of the wonderful memories he gave us and keep his sweet memory alive. šŸ’œ

I might be starting a new Monday Motivation with AAC series.

I think it would be amazing for more people to see AAC being modeled while also sharing a little positivity each week.

What do you think? Should I make this a weekly series?

And if someone needs to hear this today, share it with them: your client, your favorite SLP, a family member, a friend - anyone who could use the reminder.

You are enough. šŸ’œ

We’re exploring the possibility of starting an AAC parent community and want to create something that truly meets the needs of the families we serve. Before we begin planning, we’d love to hear from you!

Scan the QR code or use the link in our bio to complete the 2–3 minute interest form.

Even if you’re not sure whether you’d attend, your feedback will help us decide if and how we move forward. We can’t wait to hear your ideas and hopefully build another space where AAC families can connect, learn, and support one another.

That’s a wrap on our summer Tots on the Farm session!

Lots of language, learning, and laughs filled these 6 sessions!

Be on the lookout for the fall session registration. Our tots class is open to any child between 18 months and 3 years old.

The CCC and ASHA membership are not the same thing.

• CCC only: $221/year. This is a voluntary certification product that ASHA sells. It does not include member benefits.
• Membership only: $90/year. This includes benefits like journal access, voting rights, and member discounts.

The problem? Practicing SLPs aren’t given the option to purchase the $90 membership by itself. If you want to be an ASHA member while you’re practicing, you’re required to purchase the CCC first.

We’re told there’s a ā€œdiscountā€ when we bundle the CCC and membership (but a discount only exists when you can buy each item separately.) If the membership-only option isn’t available to practicing SLPs, it’s difficult to view the bundle as a true choice.

Whether you value the CCC or not, this is ultimately about transparency and giving practicing clinicians access to all of their options without gatekeeping the options.

If you’d like to see this structure changed, consider reaching out to ASHA’s Board of Directors. They need to hear from practicing SLPs if we want meaningful change.

The more respectful, thoughtful voices they hear, the harder this issue is to ignore.

Have you reached out to the board about this? Let me know in the comments!
