French Eye Care Center is seeking an experienced, patient-focused Optician to join our growing practice in Eleanor, West Virginia.

We are looking for a highly skilled optical professional who takes pride in delivering exceptional service, enjoys staying current with the latest eyewear technology and fashion trends, and is committed to helping patients achieve their best vision and appearance.

Primary Responsibilities

👓 Curate and purchase eyewear collections for our optical boutique
👓 Manage and maintain optical inventory
👓 Develop and merchandise an attractive, patient-centered optical boutique
👓 Provide expert frame styling and personalized eyewear consultations
👓 Educate patients on premium lens technologies and spectacle enhancements
👓 Stay informed on current frame styles, lens innovations, and industry trends
👓 Edge lenses in-house with precision
👓 Accurately fit, adjust, and dispense eyewear
👓 Educate patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of their eyewear

Qualifications

🕶️ Previous experience as an Optician is required. Applicants without optical experience will not be considered.
🕶️ Experience in optical sales, lens edging, and spectacle dispensing is strongly preferred.
🕶️ ABO Certified Optician (ABOC) certification is highly preferred and will receive the strongest consideration.
🕶️ Exceptional communication skills and a polished, professional demeanor are essential.
🕶️ A commitment to outstanding patient care, attention to detail, and excellence in every aspect of the patient experience.

What to Expect After Dilation

During your eye exam, we often use dilation drops to get a clear, detailed view of your eye health. 👁️

These drops temporarily widen your pupils so we can examine the retina and optic nerve more thoroughly.

It’s one of the most important parts of a comprehensive eye exam.

However, it’s normal to notice a few temporary changes afterward.

Your vision may feel blurry, especially when reading or looking at your phone. 📱

You may also become more sensitive to light since your pupils stay enlarged for a few hours. ☀️

This is completely expected and not a cause for concern.

Most patients return to normal within a few hours, though it can occasionally last a bit longer.

We always recommend bringing a pair of sunglasses to your appointment to stay comfortable on the way home. 🕶️

If possible, having someone drive you can also make things easier.

Avoid intense screen time or detailed work until your vision clears.

They are helpful, but they are not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam.

A full eye exam goes much deeper than simply reading letters on a chart.

We evaluate how well the eyes work together as a team, which is critical for reading and learning. 📚

We also assess focusing ability, which affects how comfortably your child can switch between near and far tasks.

Eye coordination problems can easily be missed in a basic screening, yet they often impact school performance.
