**Membrane Sweeps**

Are they worth it??

In my opinion, membrane sweeps are done far too often with minimal to no explanation of risks vs benefits.

It many times is portrayed as a virtually risk free intervention (which there is no such thing) that can put you into labor without the use of pharmaceuticals.

The truth is this induction method (yes technically it is a form of induction) is shown to be not very effective at starting labor, but it may help the cervix be more "favorable" once labor does start.

Risks include:
🩸vaginal bleeding
😩painful exam
🤰cramping
💧premature rupture of membranes (water breaking)

Possible benefits: 👍increase cervical readiness for labor 👍encourage spontaneous labor 👍avoid induction Informed consent is always a MUST before this or any intervention is done. If you are not 100% sure if this is right for you, ASK QUESTIONS!

After witnessing birth thousands of times, one thing certainly is true.

At some point during labor, especially when it gets very intense, women drop to their knees instinctually.

You could say it is physiology, which yes that is true. But what if it is so much more than that?

What if not only does that position help the baby descend and twist and turn, but it is also the posture of worship and surrender.

This is usually the moment women start questioning themselves or feeling like they just can't.

And this is a pivotal moment. It is when they have to give in.

I have seen the difference in moms who fully surrender and worship and those who fear and grip onto what little control they have left.
One is beautiful to witness and the other is heartbreaking to watch. Birth was meant to break us down so that God could reshape us into the new being we are becoming. Let Him❤️

These sessions are great for a first time mom or someone who might need a refresher.

These can be especially helpful for learning how to advocate for yourself and navigate the hospital system. With years if experience as a labor and delivery nurse, I bring a unique perspective to these sessions.

It's not a suggestion. It's a command.

Birth and motherhood has many unexpected twists and turns. Many times it is out of our control and that is precisely what scares us.

There is so much freedom in surrender.

Give all your cares to Him and He will see you through whatever may come.

I cannot believe I am getting inquiries for births in April!! Like whaa?!

I love it! The earlier you book your doula, the better in my opinion.

Doulas book up fast in many cases and when you book early, you get more time for questions, prep, and familiarity.

This only helps you in the long run, so DON'T WAIT!

During World Breastfeeding week, I wanted to re-share how amazing our bodies are created.

How awesome is our Creator, am I right?

Breastfeeding has so many benefits from bonding with your baby to helping reduce the mother's risk of breast cancer later in life. But it also is a sophisticated communication system between mother and child.
