Just a few weeks ago, Eagala member Caitriona O’Meara of Wellbeing with Horses in Ireland was contacted by a writer who wanted to do an article about the Eagala Model for the Irish Farmers Journal. Coincidentally, the article was published during the recent Fundamentals training hosted in Kilcloon, and it featured an impactful photo of Siobhan Wallace, another Eagala member. Dr Helen Sharp, MA PhD ACCPH, authored the article, and she did a wonderful job of emphasising the integrity of the Model, capturing the amazing power that horses have to create change and help people to heal.

"Greetings from Ligonier, Pennsylvania! I am wrapping up Fundamentals Training here, in a place that feels like it was designed for reflection and learning. The Eagala Model really takes hold here, with Mental Health Professionals and Equine Specialists working side by side to build skills and confidence.

There has been such a great balance of time together and quiet reflection. The trainers created an engaging and supportive environment, and the group quickly bonded. It is the kind of experience that stays with you.

Consider Joining Eagala’s Professional Development Committee

Your Professional Development Committee is expanding. Committee chair, Maria Kimble, invites you to join in the group’s efforts to organize, develop, evaluate and promote learning and growth opportunities for Eagala’s global membership.

This committee is dedicated to the expansion of resources and opportunities to enhance skills, strive for best practices, and advance clinical practices in maintaining Eagala certification. Committee projects include:

-Review and assessment of learning resources available to Eagala’s global membership and identifying opportunities and gaps in professional development support.

-Support for alignment and integration across Eagala’s educational offerings, resources, and learning initiatives.

-Helping design and advance clear professional development pathways for Eagala-certified practitioners.

Commitment: One virtual meeting per month (60 minutes) plus optional project work between meetings. Members serve a one-year renewable term.
