✨🎉🙌 GOD IS SO GOOD! THE NEED HAS BEEN MET! Just 1 hour after posting, someone stepped forward to volunteer. Thank you, God! 🙌🎉✨

Hope Within has an urgent need for a dental assistant tomorrow (Friday, July 31st) afternoon from 1:30 - 5:30 PM. We have our monthly, all day dental clinic scheduled for tomorrow but our dental assistant needs to leave at 1 due to family circumstances. We have 4 patients scheduled, all of whom have waited many months. If you have experience or training as a dental assistant and would be willing to serve with us tomorrow afternoon, please reach out to Darice Baird at 717-917-1893 or [email protected]. If you are not a dental assistant would you please do 2 things for us?
1) Pray that God would bring more dental volunteers to help us meet the needs of our patients.
2) Share the work of Hope Within with your friends. You can share this post to start the conversation to see if you might know someone with dental training who might be open to volunteering. Just 3 hours a month can make a difference in 36 people's lives each year!

This week’s Volunteer Spotlight is dedicated to Audrie Schaller, whose passion, leadership, and servant’s heart continue to make a lasting impact at Hope Within Ministries.

Audrie first joined Hope Within as our part-time Development Director. Although her role has evolved, her commitment to strengthening the ministry has never wavered. Whether she’s sharing her knowledge, assisting with new initiatives, or helping move important projects forward, Audrie is always looking for ways to serve.

Today, she plays a vital role in managing the business and organizational operations of The Trove, working alongside Robin to help keep everything running smoothly. If you’ve ever admired one of the beautifully restored or creatively upcycled furniture pieces at The Trove, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Audrie’s handiwork.

Outside of Hope Within, Audrie also operates a travel blog, Mi Brava, dedicated to encouraging adults over the age of 60 to continue exploring the world and embracing new adventures. When asked about the most unusual thing she’s ever done, she says it could be starting the travel blog or might have even been “riding a camel for the second time—when neither the camel nor I enjoyed it the first time.”

Audrie has many accomplishments she’s proud of, including running for Congress in 1990, raising two children who love the Lord, and watching The Trove grow into an important source of support for Hope Within Ministries.

When reflecting on the ministry’s growth, Audrie gives all the credit to God.

“In 2025, the Lord brought donors to us that allowed us to be open 10–12 times a year. That, in turn, allowed The Trove to grow and provide substantial support to Hope Within Ministries’ operations.”

If you’ve ever considered volunteering with Hope Within, Audrie has this encouragement:

“Don’t hesitate to ask where help is needed. You don’t have to be a medical professional—although we always welcome them! At The Trove alone, we have ongoing opportunities to help with organizing donations, inventory, cleaning, painting, upcycling furniture, and assisting during our open days. There truly is a place for everyone to serve.”

🌟 Staff/Volunteer Spotlight: Robin 🌟

Robin first discovered Hope Within through a friend who was working here at the time—and we’re so thankful she did.

Over the years, Robin has created countless memories. She laughs about one of her most memorable adventures: taking an overnight train from Harrisburg to Boston during Christmastime, complete with a two-hour layover in New York City! Here at Hope Within, some of her favorite memories include celebrating at our Christmas parties and witnessing the incredible impact our medical team has on patients’ lives.

When asked about her greatest accomplishments, Robin doesn’t focus on awards or recognition. Instead, she shares what matters most: being a mom, seeing someone come to know Christ, and celebrating the “small” victories that make a big difference—like receiving costly medications through donations so patients can receive the care they need.

For anyone considering volunteering, Robin has this encouragement:

“Connecting with the amazing providers and staff is an encouragement. Seeing people (clients and families) with appreciation and [watching them] grow in their relationship with Christ,” is why she would encourage others to join the Hope Within family.

Robin has served on staff as one of our dedicated nurses and is also the co-curator of The Trove. Before The Trove had a permanent home, she organized Hope Within’s annual Holiday Shop inside the clinic—a challenging task while the clinic remained fully operational! Once the opportunity arose to expand into the Hexagonal Building, and with the help of Audrie coordinating logistics and furniture restoration, The Trove became the welcoming community shop it is today.

If you’ve ever admired the beautiful artwork throughout The Trove, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Robin’s talent on display. She is an incredibly gifted painter, and her creativity can be found on slates, coasters, and many other handcrafted items available in the shop.

Robin’s compassion, creativity, and servant’s heart continue to bless Hope Within, our patients, and our community every day.

VACATION!!!!

No, that does not mean that we are physically on vacation here at Hope Within. Maybe you are or you want to be!

We believe vacations are important. It is a time to reset and unwind from the busyness of life and to focus on your family and rest. We are so grateful for those that take their free time and give it back to God through service in this ministry.

Meet Jo Davidson – Lead Staff Nurse and Volunteer Nurse Coordinator

Jo has her BSN. Her nursing history began with NICU and pediatric care. She has served in different areas of care through the years. She volunteered at a local clinic in Harrisburg before coming on staff at Hope Within in 2019. She currently is responsible for the administration part of our HW nursing department and leading clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When not at HW, Jo works at Penn Medicine Urgent Care located beside Norlanco. We are more than blessed to have her as part of the HW team!!

Jo is married to Brad with 7 children and the grandchildren number keeps growing. Jo’s newest grandson, Cedric was born May 28th. Jo and Brad attend LCBC and they are involved in a small group there. Jo is part of two different bible studies and a book club. She enjoys reading, traveling, walking, caring for family and spending time with friends. Jo’s youngest daughter will be a senior in high school and much of the school year is spent encouraging studies to get to graduation. Jo is a friend everyone wants to have!

Jo’s love of the Lord and love for people is evident in all she does. She constantly seeks to grow and understand more of who God is. Jo is the example of excellence and kindness in her position and she is invaluable to Hope Within. We are grateful for her faithfulness to Hope Within.

Measles Monday….?



No, thank you! We would like to avoid that title as much as we’d like to avoid the illness.



According to WGAL’s “Measles cases rise in Pennsylvania, with Lancaster County seeing the most,” 7 cases were confirmed making the total cases confirmed up to 73.



I know we don’t want to think about school in the middle of July but school is coming! Ask us about childhood immunizations!

Six new measles cases have been reported in Pennsylvania this week, raising the state's total to 73 cases for 2026.
