There is something incredibly special about finding people who feel like family before you ever get the chance to stand beside them.
For so many of us, our sisterhood began through a screen. We found each other in meetings, in conversations, in the hard days and the good ones. We have laughed together, cried together, encouraged one another, celebrated milestones, and carried each other through moments when life felt heavy.
Some of our sisters were blessed to return for a second year, reunited with women they had shared our very first retreat with. Others came this year and finally got to meet, hug, laugh with, and spend time with sisters they had known and loved for years through our online community.
And somehow, whether it was the first hug or the second year of hugs, it felt like coming home. ❤️
Our second Sobriety Sisters Retreat in Tennessee was so much more than a getaway.
It was a chance to slow down.
To breathe.
To heal.
To reflect on where we have been and celebrate how far we have come.
We laughed until we cried. We shared stories. We opened our hearts. We tie-dyed shirts, painted, went ziplining, spent time on the pontoon, experienced holistic healing with Shell, shared meals, and made memories that will stay with us long after we returned home.
But the activities weren't what made this retreat beautiful.
It was the connection.
It was watching women who have supported one another from hundreds or even thousands of miles away finally sit beside each other.
It was the hugs.
The conversations.
The tears.
The laughter.
The quiet moments.
The “I can't believe we're really here together” moments.
And one of the most meaningful parts of our retreat was being able to turn around and give that love back to another group of women.
We visited Second Chance Sober Living in Newport, Tennessee, where we were welcomed with open arms. We shared our stories, listened to theirs, hugged one another, laughed together, and brought hygiene baskets to remind these women that they matter, their recovery matters, and they are never alone.
That is what Sobriety Sisters means to us.
We don't just talk about recovery.
We live it together.
We show up.
We love each other through the hard days.
We celebrate the victories.
We give back.
And we remind one another that the life we have today is worth protecting.
Our second retreat may have ended, but the memories, the healing, the laughter, and the connections we made will stay with us.
Some sisters came back for their second retreat.
Some sisters experienced their first.
But every single woman who was there became part of another chapter in the story of Sobriety Sisters. ❤️
Here's to the women who found each other, the women who keep showing up, and the sisterhood that continues to grow.
Until next year… ❤️
We love you, Sobriety Sisters.
