🌟 Intern Spotlight: Dillon Hepler! 🌟

Please join us in recognizing Dillon Hepler, a social work intern at Astra Behavioral Health who sees clients at both our Louisville and Shepherdsville offices! 💙❤️

Dillon is currently in his final year of graduate school, pursuing his Master of Science in Social Work, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Dillon has a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges through strengths-based, solution-focused approaches. He strives to create a welcoming, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where every client feels heard, supported, and understood.
His approach focuses on helping clients recognize their strengths, identify meaningful goals, and build the tools they need to move forward.

💙 An added benefit! Dillon is able to see clients at a reduced fee, helping make quality mental health services more affordable and accessible to those seeking support.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Meet Joyce! 🌟

Today, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Joyce, a dedicated member of Astra Behavioral Health's Adolescent Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CD IOP) team!

With over 27 years of experience in substance use treatment, Joyce has spent 20 years working with adults in prison systems and detention centers and the past seven years focusing on adolescents struggling with substance use.

Through her work, Joyce collaborates with Kentucky state agencies, including DJJ, DAC, DCBS, and CDWs, providing valuable education and support to youth. She is passionate about helping adolescents understand the risks associated with substance use and empowering them with the knowledge they need to make healthier, more informed decisions.

"I love working with youth because they are so smart, and when given enough information, they can make good decisions on their own." ❤️

For Joyce, her work is more than a career. It's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, their families, and the community partners she serves. "It's not work when you love what you do!"

🐴 A Little About Joyce Outside of Work...
Joyce is a firm believer in the importance of self-care, and her favorite way to recharge is horseback riding. She says it keeps her young!
She's also affectionately known around the stable as the "Treat Lady" because she never shows up empty-handed. Each week, she brings treats for the horses, dogs, cats, and the other riders!
For Joyce, building meaningful relationships with both people and animals is an important part of life.

We are grateful to have Joyce as part of the Astra Behavioral Health team! Her years of experience, genuine passion for helping young people, and dedication to making a difference are exactly what make our team so special.

🎉Provider Spotlight: Meet Nekkesia Jackson, CSW! 🎉

Today, we're excited to celebrate Nekkesia, a valued member of the Astra Behavioral Health team!

Nekkesia is a Certified Social Worker (CSW) who is currently working at Compass Academy, Astra's day treatment program in partnership with Bullitt County Public Schools.

Nekkesia is passionate about creating a safe, supportive environment where children and families feel heard, respected, and empowered to make positive changes.

She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville and brings valuable experience in acute inpatient psychiatry, youth residential treatment, individual and group therapy, and the department of child services.

Her approach combines evidence-based practices with genuine compassion, helping children build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and strengthen their resilience.

For Nekkesia, social work is more than a profession—it’s a calling to advocate for others, promote healing, and remind every individual that growth and positive change are always possible.

We are proud to celebrate Nekkesia as part of our Compass Academy team and appreciate the compassion, experience, and dedication she brings to the students and families we serve!

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Kimberly Tooley! 🌟

This week, we're excited to recognize Kimberly Tooley, one of the friendly faces welcoming patients at Astra Behavioral Health's Elizabethtown office! ❤️

As a member of our front desk team, Kimberly helps keep the office running smoothly by scheduling appointments, answering calls, checking in patients, and supporting our providers with their daily needs.

Kimberly takes pride in being one of the first people patients see when they walk through our doors. She always strives to greet everyone with a smile and make them feel comfortable and welcome. She especially enjoys helping our youngest patients feel heard and independent by encouraging them to speak for themselves during check-in and checkout. She also has a special place in her heart for our older patients, making sure they feel supported and know when to return for their next appointment.

When she's not busy helping patients and coworkers, Kimberly loves spending time outdoors, especially trail riding in her side-by-side and getting as muddy as possible! Most importantly, she's a proud momma of two teenagers who keep her life full and busy!

🌟 Provider Spotlight 🌟

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Kailey Hills, one of our compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor Associates (LPCA) in our Shepherdsville office!

With experience in children’s crisis services, community mental health, and intensive day treatment settings, she is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families as they navigate difficult experiences, emotional challenges, and life transitions.

She works with clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, grief, emotional and behavioral challenges, family conflict, and self-esteem concerns.

Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and individualized to each person. She incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed interventions, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and play- and activity-based interventions when appropriate.

Most importantly, she strives to create a space where clients feel safe, heard, respected, and understood without judgment. Her style is warm, empathetic, collaborative, and honest, with room for creativity, humor, and genuine connection along the way.

Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting growth.

Glad to have Kailey on the Astra team! ❤️

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on our amazing Compliance Manager, Lindsey Elliott! ❤️

In the time she has been with us, Lindsey has proven just how valuable she is to our team! She works behind the scenes to help ensure we stay on track with mental health regulations, HIPAA requirements, and other regulatory and accreditation standards—all while helping keep the many moving pieces organized!

Lindsey has quickly become someone our team can count on. Whether she’s answering questions, helping solve a problem, or simply pointing us in the right direction, she is always willing to jump in and help.

We are so appreciative of the knowledge, organization, and positive attitude Lindsey brings to our team. She has made such a positive impact in a short amount of time, and we’re so glad to have her with us!
