Earlier this month, a beautiful and meaningful moment took place at Helmwood as our resident, Sheila McCoy, chose to be baptized by our chaplain, Cindy Miske.

Sheila was baptized in our sunroom, surrounded by residence, family and friends who gather to support her and share in the special occasion.

Moments like this are one of the many benefits of having an on-site chaplain who can provide spiritual guidance support and meaningful opportunities for our residents.

Congratulations, Sheila, on this important step in your faith journey.

We’re so grateful to Heather’s Healing Hooves for bringing their wonderful therapy animals to visit our residents today. The comfort and joy these animals bring is just priceless. A few of our residents recently enjoyed a fun outing filled with lunch, shopping, and plenty of smiles along the way. Accompanied by members of our Activities Department and several of our dedicated CNAs, the group spent the day enjoying good company and a change of scenery.
Thank you to our Activities team and CNAs for helping make days like this possible for our residents.

This week, we proudly celebrate CNA Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible Certified Nursing Assistants.

CNAs are often the first smiling faces residents see each morning and the last to wish them goodnight. They provide comfort, compassion, dignity, and care through every moment of every day.

The relationships they build with our residents and families make Helmwood feel like home. Their dedication, patience, and kindness help create the caring environment we are proud to call our community.

To all of our CNAs: thank you for the countless ways you make a difference each day. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for everything you do for our residents, families, and team.

Happy 102nd Birthday to our Elizabeth Sanford Swope Personal Care resident, Jake Owen!

This week, Jake celebrated an incredible milestone as he turned 102 years young, surrounded by the love of family, friends, fellow residents, and staff. Reaching 102 years is a remarkable achievement and a testament to a life filled with memories, experiences, wisdom, and resilience.

From all of us at Helmwood Healthcare and Willow Creek Assisted Living, we wish Jake a very happy birthday and many more moments of joy. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey and this extraordinary milestone!

This week, we proudly celebrated National Nursing Home Week at Helmwood Healthcare — where this year’s theme, “Moments in Bloom,” perfectly reflects the heart of what we do every day. 🌸

The small moments are often the ones that bloom into lasting memories for our residents, families, and staff.

Throughout the week, we recognized the incredible people who make our community special — the caregivers, nurses, therapists, support staff, residents, and families who help The Village continue to grow with kindness, strength, and connection.

During Nurse Appreciation Week, we want to recognize and thank all nurses everywhere for the care, compassion, and sacrifices they make every day. Nursing is not an easy job, and the impact nurses have on the lives of others is something that can never truly be measured.

Here at Helmwood Healthcare, we are especially thankful for our own nursing team. They are there for the hard days, the long nights, the call lights, the emergencies, the hugs, the laughter, and everything in between. They take care of our residents like family and continue showing up with compassion even when the days are exhausting.

A lot of what nurses do never gets seen publicly, but we see it here every day. The patience, teamwork, kindness, and heart they bring to this building means more than words can say.

Thank you to all nurses, and especially our Helmwood nurses, for everything you do. ❤️
