There is always more to discover in our own backyard! ✨ Our latest adventure took us to the Sacramento History Museum, where we spent the afternoon stepping into the stories that helped shape our city.

We journeyed back to Sacramento’s Gold Rush beginnings and explored some especially fascinating exhibits along the way. “Play Ball! Sacramento in the National Pastime” took us through 175 years of local baseball history, from the earliest days of the Gold Rush to the present, with uniforms, photographs, equipment, tickets, trophies, and plenty of memories from America’s favorite pastime. ⚾

Another highlight was Sacramento’s Community Quilt, a remarkable piece created in 1876 to celebrate our nation’s centennial. With more than 500 names written across its squares, the quilt tells the stories of the people who called Sacramento home 150 years ago - and amazingly, it was rediscovered after spending more than 40 years tucked away in storage.

Of course, no E&A adventure is complete without a little spontaneity! As we were leaving, we spotted a man walking by with an ice cream cone. Naturally, there was only one reasonable thing to do: ask him where he got it and follow his directions. 😂🍦

That little detour led us straight into a candy wonderland filled with old-fashioned favorites like saltwater taffy, licorice, sweets of every kind, and, most importantly, ice cream! From Gold Rush history and Sacramento baseball to quilts, candy, and an unexpected ice cream mission, we’d call this adventure one for the history books. 💛

to a little slice of paradise! 🌴🎶

September may be here, but we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to summer just yet! We’re throwing it back to our Margaritaville Mingle, where the sounds of live steel drums filled the Bistro and brought the perfect island soundtrack to an afternoon of tropical fun. ☀️🌺

Here’s a little taste of those island tunes to keep the summer spirit going just a little bit longer! 🌴

After five incredible years at Bruceville Point, we are saying a very bittersweet farewell to someone who has truly become a cornerstone of our community: our wonderful Annette with EmpowerMe Wellness. 💛

EmpowerMe’s mission is rooted in improving the lives of seniors and helping individuals live healthier, happier, and more independent lives - and we can’t think of anyone who has embodied that spirit more beautifully than Annette.

Over the years, Annette has encouraged countless residents to embrace their individual wellness journeys, celebrating their progress, encouraging them through the difficult days, and reminding them of just how much they are capable of. But her impact has reached far beyond physical wellness. Annette is funny, kind, compassionate, and always willing to lend an ear, offer a few words of wisdom, or simply be there when someone needs her.

Perhaps one of our residents said it best: Annette’s job may have been to help care for his physical health, but the impact she had on his mental and emotional well-being was life-changing.

That is the kind of legacy you leave when you spend five years not simply working in a community, but becoming part of its heart.

Annette, we love you dearly and are so grateful for every laugh, every encouraging word, every resident you championed, and every piece of yourself you poured into Bruceville Point. While we wish you nothing but happiness and success in your next chapter, you will always be part of the Bruceville Point family.

And yes, we fully expect visits. After all, we still need another opportunity to put you back in the dunk tank. 😉 We love you, Annette!! Thank you for five unforgettable years. 💛

SADDLE UP FOR CATTLEMENS! 🤠🥩

We recently headed out for a delicious meal at the brand-new Cattlemens Steakhouse right here in Elk Grove! While this location just opened its doors this spring, Cattlemens has been serving up its signature Western hospitality since 1968, when father-and-son ranchers Pete Gillham Sr. and Pete Gillham Jr. set out to bring great beef from the ranch to the restaurant table.

Our crew enjoyed plenty of hearty steakhouse favorites, good conversation, and even better company. And when we say “hearty,” we mean it: some of those racks of ribs were practically the size of the person eating them! 😂

Trying new restaurants together is one of our favorite ways to get out, explore our community, and share a great meal. We’re already looking forward to where our next adventure takes us! 🤠

MARGARITAVILLE MINGLE 🌴🍹🥥

We had a little taste of paradise at Bruceville Point with live steel-drum music setting the tropical tone for our Margaritaville Mingle!

The Bistro was filled with island flavors as we enjoyed teriyaki-glazed meatballs with pineapple, coconut shrimp, plantains, and plenty of sweet treats, including key lime pie and mango sticky rice. Of course, no trip to Margaritaville would be complete without margaritas and piña coladas - made even more fun served in festive coconut and pineapple cups!

With great food, tropical tunes, and even better company, it was the perfect afternoon to kick back, enjoy a little island time, and make some wonderful memories together. 🌺🌴

TROPICAL FLORAL DEMONSTRATION 🌸🌺🌿

Our very own talented Timothy Smith, Events & Adventures (E&A) Director - who just so happens to have owned his own floral arranging business - treated us to an entire floral experience in celebration of Bruceville Point’s “Tropical August” theme! 🌴

The beginning of the video gives you a peek at the before & after, but stick around because the full demonstration follows! It may be a little longer than the videos you typically find on this platform, but trust us - if you watch the whole thing, it’s almost as good as being there in person! 💐

Throughout the demonstration, our audience joined in by asking questions, learning some tricks of the trade, and sharing their own stories and experiences with flowers. It turned into such a fun, interactive morning filled with beautiful tropical blooms, creativity, conversation, and plenty of floral inspiration.

Thank you, Timothy, for sharing your talent and giving us such a special experience! 🌺🌿

Five years ago, Bruceville Point opened its doors with a vision of creating more than just a place to live - it set out to build a community where people could truly feel at home. From the very beginning, Maricel has been an essential part of that story. As one of our very first team members, she welcomed countless residents and families through our doors with compassion, reassurance, and an unwavering smile, helping lay the foundation for the vibrant Founders Society (original residents & staff) and community we know and cherish today.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing Maricel knows she has a gift for making people feel seen. Her infectious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, kind heart, and genuine warmth have brightened not only our hallways, but the lives of so many residents, families, and team members alike. Moving into a senior living community is one of life’s biggest transitions, and Maricel has walked alongside countless individuals every step of the way, offering comfort, guidance, grace, and friendship when it mattered most. The lasting relationships she has built and the care she has poured into this community will continue to be felt for years to come.

As Maricel begins her next great adventure, we want to thank her for the dedication, compassion, and countless hours she has so generously given to Bruceville Point over the past five years. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and grateful for the legacy she leaves behind. While we will miss her laughter, her positivity, and the joy she brought to each day, we know she will continue making a difference wherever life leads her. Maricel, thank you for helping make Bruceville Point feel like home. You will always be a cherished part of our story, and you will forever have a place in our hearts. ❤️🤍💛
