We had an unbe-LEAF-ably good time at Apple Hill!!! 🍎🍂 Our fall adventure took us to Abel’s Apple Acres and Boa Vista Orchards, where we took our apple tasting responsibilities VERY seriously. Apple c***r? Of course. Apple c***r donuts? Absolutely. Apple pie, apple butter, apple turnovers? Yes, yes, and YES. At this point, if it had “apple” in the name, there’s a pretty good chance we ate it.

After doing some serious damage to the Apple Hill treat selection, we headed to Buttercup Pantry for a delicious local lunch - because seasonal treats have their own special spot in the stomach obviously. We picked a pretty great way to spend the day… and that’s the core truth! 🍏

✨ We struck gold in Coloma! ✨

We took a trip back in time at Coloma Gold Rush Live! at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, where history truly came to life around us. Located at the site where James W. Marshall discovered gold in 1848, the event transforms the park into an 1850s tent town filled with costumed interpreters, historic trades and businesses, hands-on demonstrations, gold panning, blacksmithing, a claims office, general stores, a post office, historic games and so much more!

There was something new to discover around every corner, but a few favorites definitely stood out. We loved listening to the live banjo music and visiting the merchant tent, where we learned about the different goods people would have bought and sold during the Gold Rush era. And, unsurprisingly, the bakery and candy shop tents were VERY popular stops with our crew! 🍪

We worked up quite the appetite exploring, so burgers and hot dogs fresh off the BBQ grill with chips and an ice-cold soda made for the perfect lunch. Even better, proceeds from Coloma Gold Rush Live! help support future educational programs at the park. ❤️

Most of all, we were so impressed by the people who made the day possible. A huge thank you to the wonderful park rangers who kept everything running smoothly and made getting our group on and off the bus so easy and convenient. And to the park staff, volunteers, performers and local community members who shared their knowledge with us: the creativity, detail and genuine love poured into the performances, period costumes and historical interpretation made it feel like we had truly stepped into another time. Thank you.

What a wonderful way to experience a piece of California history right where it happened. We came home with full bellies, plenty of new knowledge, and some truly golden memories! ✨

This October, we wore pink with purpose. 🎀

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Bruceville Point community came together in support of those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer: the survivors and fighters, the families and friends who have walked beside them, those we remember, and those still navigating a diagnosis today.

We were honored to partner with Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation, a local Sacramento-area organization providing life-saving breast cancer testing assistance, prevention education, patient advocacy, resources, and compassionate support to members of our own community. We are incredibly grateful to Albie Aware for joining us and sharing more about the important work they do.

Our day was filled with pink, from our walk and fundraising efforts to gift bags with ribbon ghost pins, bracelets, and a little pink sparkle. But more than anything, it was filled with love. Every donation, every step walked, and every person who participated represented our shared commitment to supporting our neighbors, friends, families, and community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who donated and helped us support Albie Aware. 💗

We couldn’t let October pass us by without a trip to one of our favorite local fall traditions: Keema Pumpkin Patch Farm right here in Elk Grove! We spent the day enjoying a little country air, visiting the farm animals, exploring the farm, and of course, searching for the perfect pumpkins to bring home.

And there’s a little bit of local history behind all that fall fun! Keema’s Pumpkin Farm opened in 2007, but the land itself has been owned, operated, and called home by the Keema family for more than 100 years. Today, the working family farm invites the community to experience a little slice of country life with tractor rides out to the pumpkin fields, a corn maze, farm animals, and plenty of pumpkins along the way.

Their motto says it best: “Come enjoy the country.” And that’s exactly what we did!! 🎃🚜🍁

🎀 PINK HAIR DO CARE! 🎀

We’re thinking PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 💕 Our salon got a rosy little makeover as residents stopped by to add a pop of pink to their hair in support of breast cancer awareness.

A huge thank you to the fabulous Michelle for breaking out the pink and helping everyone show their support in style! From subtle streaks to bold splashes of color, we had so much fun turning heads for a cause that touches so many lives.

Because sometimes showing you care looks like wearing pink… and sometimes it means putting it right in your hair. 🎀💗

Prost to a brew-tiful Oktoberfest at Bruceville Point! 🥨🍺

We raised our steins and celebrated with all the fixings: a platter piled high with warm soft pretzels and flaky salt, bier cheese, sausages, cheesy pastry pinwheels, and, of course, a special Oktoberfest b**r to wash it all down!

Father-daughter duo Alincia & Junior kept the celebration going with live music while our Oktoberfest photo backdrop gave everyone the perfect excuse to stick their face in, strike a pose, and get a little silly!!!

We also want to give a huge shoutout to Chef Eric and our wonderful team behind the scenes who helped bring it all together. Thank you!!! 🥨🧀

We’ve been having a gourd time getting crafty!! 🎃🧶 Our residents wrapped up a little fall fun by turning yarn, creativity, and a few twists and ties into the cutest pumpkin patch around. No carving required - just plenty of laughs and a whole lot of pumpkin to talk about! 🍂

Sometimes the best adventures come with a change of plans! When the day takes an unexpected turn, we simply pivot, find somewhere new, and make an adventure out of it.

This particular detour brought us to Husicks Taphouse in Clarksburg, CA, where we slowed down for phenomenal food, even better company, and a little something to sip… old-fashioned Coca-Cola and root b**r straight from a glass bottle, a surprisingly tall/thin shaped Diet Coke, and a glass of w**e or two with a cocktail mixed in for good measure.

Not quite where we thought the road would take us, but sometimes that’s half the fun. Here’s to going with the flow, trying somewhere new, and enjoying wherever the day happens to lead us!
After all, our community enables the lifestyle defined by YUSM. Feeling , staying , being , and remaining . 🚌

Some outings are good for the stomach AND the soul!!! 👒🫔

We spent the afternoon in Fair Oaks beginning with a delicious lunch at Carmelita's Restaurant, a local family Mexican restaurant whose story began all the way back in 1962! The Heredia family opened their Fair Oaks location in 1987, carrying on generations of recipes and flavors inspired by Puebla and their beloved Grandma Carmelita.

With full bellies, we went on a little trip down memory lane at Stardust Vintage Emporium and oh what a place to explore it was! Their new Fair Oaks location is a 31,000-square-foot treasure trove filled with vintage clothing, furniture, records, toys, collectibles and pieces from decades past. Around nearly every corner came another “I remember that!” or a story about something once owned, worn, played with or tucked away at home. We found that the best part of looking at something old is discovering just how many memories still feel brand new.
