Intense Pulsed Light therapy, is a non-invasive treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to treat a variety of skin conditions and is increasingly used in eye care to manage dry eye disease caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
How IPL works for dry eyes
* Reduces inflammation around the eyelids.
* Closes abnormal blood vessels (telangiectasia) that release inflammatory chemicals.
* Warms and softens thickened oils in the meibomian glands, making expression easier.
* Decreases the bacterial load and reduces Demodex mites that can contribute to blepharitis.
* Improves the quality and stability of the tear film.
