I fell into alternative medicine while trying to find my place in the healthcare system. After turning down medical school, joining the Peace Corps as a health educator, and realizing that I wanted to take a holistic approach, I attained my doctorate in chiropractic. Aside from family, friends, and my career, there are tons of things that I love doing which require me to be healthy. I have taken o

n the task of trying to educate as many people as possible of things they can do to KEEP themselves healthy. I preach whole foods, exercise, relaxation, and having fun; that’s life folks! I eat fairly strict Paleo and use Crossfit for my fitness fun. While at the office, I am working hard to get people off of their medications through nutrition, rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries, and tuning up everybody’s nervous system through adjustments. There is nothing better than having an impact on a patient’s health because it has an effect on EVERY SINGLE person around them. Happy, healthy people are great to be around, and I pride myself on creating more!

I’m genuinely interested. If you go to the gym, eat a salad, take a walk, turn off the TV, drink x ounces of water…

Why do you do it? Like genuinely?

Do you do it because you actually enjoy doing it or bc you fear the health ramifications if you don’t, or perhaps bc it’s your perceived path to looking better?

I’m genuinely interesting in what motivates you to do what you do. I don’t want the answer that you think is right (“I do everything for me” kinda thing) bc I’ve worked with women for way too long (and I am human as well) to know that just for your own pleasure is very rarely true. Let me hear the truth today.

When I first started educating here, it was about information and inspiration and learning. Now, I feel like all I do is field DMs where people send me crazy headlines and ask me if it’s really true that {insert anything and everything} is actually bad for you. Nothing is off limits folks. Omega 3s, meat, blueberries, turmeric, tomatoes, water, nuts, bread, the sun, even your family…I’m just waiting patiently on broccoli’s turn at fame.
Please make it stop.

I see this all the time, too. I highly recommend the book Die with Zero where he covers the concept that people wait until retirement to “maximize” life but by that age, you may have a knee replacement, you may not be willing to deal with some travel discomfort, you may have a reason you’re less capable than you were in your 40s. There’s a point in life when you have money AND health, and that’s when you should likely take the most advantage of opportunities. 💓
