Beginners Mind Psychiatry

Beginners Mind Psychiatry Dr. Paulo Negro offers in-person and online psychiatric services for ADHD, bipolar disorder and more. Click here to read more about my psychiatric services.

I provide concierge psychiatric treatment to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, and much more. My services are available in-person and online to Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania residents. In some cases, we will need to meet in person for our first appointment. My services include evaluations, medication management, and brief therapy when needed.

In treatment, we will look at you as a whole person and can coordinate with your medical team or family to provide treatment that serves your wellness goals. I see patients for EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and CBT-based therapy (cognitive behavioral therapy) as a supplement to the psychiatric care that I provide. Psychiatric treatment is available in English and Portuguese.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is far more than a preference for neatness—it’s a complex cycle of intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors that can deeply disrupt daily life.

While living with OCD can feel exhausting, it is highly treatable. A personalized approach to medication management can help lower the "volume" of these intrusive thoughts. Reducing this baseline anxiety makes it much easier to break the cycle and find long-term mental freedom.

Adult ADHD in men doesn't always mean physical hyperactivity. Often, it shows up as internal restlessness, relying on stimulants (like heavy caffeine) to focus, or an exhausting cycle of procrastination and missed deadlines.

If you constantly feel like you're falling short of your potential despite working twice as hard, it might not be a lack of willpower—it could be executive dysfunction.

Gaining clarity is the first step toward building tailored strategies that actually work for your brain. Take this brief, 12-question self-assessment to better understand your focus and attention habits: https://beginnersmindpsychiatry.com/adhd-screener-for-men/
