You may have noticed recently that a lot of the language we've shifted towards surrounding our products is based on the idea of personal care being a "ritual". This hasn't been an accident, but a very intentional way of reminding you that everyday can be a step towards better health...physical, emotional and mental. Every action has its roots in the ways we are uniquely human and can lead either towards suffering or peace. Ritualistic personal care, care that goes beyond just moisturizing the skin, or cleansing the scalp, is our path to being present in and with our body. It's truly the way we notice how we are feeling, what do we think about ourselves, what messages are we taking in and using to our benefit, and which ones are not serving us or those around us. Are we giving our physical being what it needs to prosper, and, in turn, are we feeling mentally and emotionally supported and cared for? With the right rituals, we are guiding the whole person to well-being.
What are some of the rituals we can create just by being present in our personal care? When done as a ritual, our morning shower is so much more than just washing and rinsing while we think about the many, many tasks we have planned. It's an experience in smell, temperature, moisture, and connection. It's a chance to give attention and gratitude for the many ways nature provides for our body from the soap that we use to the aromatic oils that awaken our senses. Where did they come from? Who harvested them? Whose hands made them into what we find both useful and joyful? This kind of awareness and intention can do wonders for taking on those tasks ahead with a sense of purpose and service.
As a ritual, a moment with our favorite essential oil bottle becomes a mindful pause in a busy day to take a deep inhale, and a slow exhale. This simple action calms our racing mind, lowers our heart rate, and brings a sense of confidence to things that could otherwise overwhelm us.
In the evening, washing the day off our face and feet with soft gentle lather and cleansing clay brings compassion for hard work. Our final ritual of applying nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants to every crevice and corner of our face, neck, and shoulders, invites us to renew, restore, and rest. A ritual of self-worth and self-love.
We believe beauty does not have to shout but can whisper through the quiet moments of our day, bringing wellness forward in the little things we do for ourselves...body and mind.
