Mama did an amazing job advocating for herself through pregnancy and birth, finding a provider that would support her choices, educating herself.

Today I was honored to be invited to a baby dedication for some of my midwife babies. 5 of my babies were dedicated today.
I had the honor and privilege of welcoming every little one in this picture, with the exception of one. This is a legacy that God has given me through my service as a midwife.

Is this true for the general U.S. population? Nope. Because over 1/3 of moms are induced BEFORE 40 weeks. So the stats you google do NOT match up. We have become very good at predicting due dates in this country. Early US's are VERY ACCURATE. Within 5-7 days if not tighter. Furthermore, home birth midwives look at the whole picture. The LMP and the conception date and we TALK to our clients about when exactly THEY think they conceived. All of this gives a great picture of when baby may be due. Then when we do our stats and let nature take its course, we find that our babies come a few days AFTER the EDD and sometimes a week or so later and few outliers might come a bit early. But most come just after the 40 weeks we pinpointed at the beginning of pregnancy.
