Drop, Cover, and Hold On! We’re ShakeOut Ready!

What do you do when the ground starts shaking? Today, Summit Pacific Medical Center caregivers put preparedness into practice by participating in the Great ShakeOut earthquake and tsunami drill!

When the signal was given, caregivers practiced the important steps of Drop, Cover, and Hold On to help prepare for an earthquake.

While we hope we never have to face a disaster, being prepared can make all the difference! Drills like this help our team build confidence, strengthen emergency response skills, and stay ready to protect our patients, fellow caregivers, and community when it matters most.

A big thank-you to all our caregivers who participated and helped make emergency preparedness a priority!

Bloom at Summit: Kaitlyn Granstrom's Journey of Growth

Kaitlyn’s journey at Summit Pacific is a great example of how hard work, education, and the right support can help a career flourish!

Since joining Summit in March 2020 as a Registration Specialist, Kaitlyn has grown through several roles, from Diagnostic Imaging Scheduling Specialist to Accounts Payable and now Accountant. Along the way, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, using Summit’s tuition reimbursement program to help support her education. She’s now working toward her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license!

Kaitlyn credits her growth to the encouragement of Summit leaders, including Finance Manager Weronika Nelson, and the knowledge and mentorship of her coworkers.

Her advice? Show up, give your best, invest in your goals, and keep pursuing opportunities—even when they take you beyond your current role.

We’re proud to see Kaitlyn growing her career at Summit Pacific and look forward to seeing what blooms next!

Please note that on Thursday, October 8, the lab located on the second floor of the Wellness Center will close at 5:00 p.m. to accommodate the Ladies’ Night Out event taking place in the Wellness Center.

Need lab work after 5:00 p.m.? Please use the lab located in the Medical Center.

The Wellness Center lab will reopen at its regularly scheduled hours on Friday, October 9.

Falls can happen to anyone, but many falls can be prevented. This event on Wednesday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Summit Pacific Wellness Center is designed for older adults who want to improve their balance, strength, and safety while maintaining an active, independent lifestyle.

During this event, you’ll:
· Learn about common fall risks and simple ways to reduce them.
· Participate in hands-on screening activities focused on balance, mobility, and strength.
· Discover practical strategies you can use every day to help prevent falls.

Whether you’ve experienced a fall, feel unsteady, have concerns about your balance, or simply want to stay strong and independent, this event is for you. Prevention starts before a fall happens. Join us and learn how small changes can make a big difference.

Partnerships That Make a Difference Close to Home

Summit Pacific Medical Center recently welcomed Edward Heidig, Health and Human Services (HHS) Regional Director, and Kirk Pearson, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Washington State Director, for a tour of the newly completed hospital expansion and Wellness Center.

Their visit highlighted how federal partnerships and rural health investments are strengthening care close to home. USDA financing, through bonds, helped establish the foundation for Summit Pacific’s hospital and Wellness Center, supporting essential care, prevention and wellness without relying on a community tax levy.

The $60 million hospital expansion added approximately 30,000 square feet of new space and renovated 8,000 square feet, expanding emergency and inpatient capacity, advanced diagnostic services and behavioral health care.

The Wellness Center complements these services with clinical care, community education, support groups and opportunities for physical activity and prevention.

We’re grateful for the partnerships that help rural communities thrive and proud to put these investments to work for the community we serve.
