Your neck is stronger than you think.

Watch Formula 1 drivers take corners at incredible speeds while their heads are exposed to massive amounts of force. Their necks have to control and stabilize the head through all of it.

That’s a pretty good reminder that the human neck is not a fragile system.

Like any other part of the body, it can become stronger with the right training and progressive loading.

If your neck feels stiff, weak, or sensitive, the answer isn’t always to avoid using it. Sometimes it needs the right stimulus, the right progression, and a little confidence.

Your body is capable of adapting. Your neck is no different.

I’m always looking for tools that can actually make recovery easier and more effective—not just the latest trend.

A few weeks ago, I picked up the Hyperice X2 Knee. It combines compression with heat or cold, and the feedback from my patients has been incredible. They’ve been loving it.

After seeing how well it worked, I decided to add the shoulder version to the clinic too.

While no recovery tool replaces a good assessment or treatment plan, the right tools can absolutely help manage pain, improve comfort, and keep you moving between sessions.

Have you tried either of these yet? I’d love to hear what you think.

Do you want to try it?

I can tell you about my approach to physical therapy, but I think my patients say it better than I ever could.

Every review represents a person who placed their trust in me during a difficult time. Many came in after months, or even years, of pain, frustration, and uncertainty. Reading about their experiences is a reminder that taking the time to listen, educate, and create an individualized plan can make a meaningful difference.

I’m grateful to every patient who has trusted RehabIT Concierge Physical Therapy with their care and taken the time to share their experience. Your words not only mean a great deal to me, but they also help others who are looking for answers feel more confident taking that first step.

Thank you for your trust. It is a privilege to be part of your recovery.

Teaching My Wife How to Deadlift 💪

One of the biggest things I hear is, “I’m scared to deadlift.”

The truth? People are scared because they’ve never been taught how to do it.

My wife had never deadlifted before, so here’s exactly how we built her confidence:

✅ Step 1: Learn the hip hinge. Before touching a weight, understand how to move from your hips while keeping a strong, stable base.

✅ Step 2: Start from an elevated position. Raising the weight shortens the range of motion, making it easier to learn proper technique and build confidence.

✅ Step 3: Put it all together. Once the movement pattern is solid, bring the weight to the floor and perform a full deadlift.

Then remember one simple cue:

PUSH the floor away. Don’t think about yanking the weight up. Drive your feet into the ground, create tension, and let the bar come with you.

If you’ve been avoiding deadlifts because they seem intimidating, hopefully this shows they’re a skill anyone can learn.

Have you always wanted to deadlift but didn’t know where to start? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Heat Training Takes Time

If your first few rides in the heat feel harder than expected, that’s normal.

Training in hot conditions places additional stress on your body, and adaptation doesn’t happen overnight. Most athletes need 7–14 days of consistent exposure before they begin to feel comfortable and perform well in the heat.

During that time, your body is making several important changes:

• Increasing blood volume to improve circulation and cooling
• Becoming more efficient at sweating to regulate body temperature
• Adjusting metabolism to better tolerate and buffer the physiological stress of heat

To make the transition easier and safer:

• Drink before you’re thirsty
• Start rides well-hydrated and consider using an electrolyte mix before and during training
• Cool your body by spraying water on your chest, neck, and head while riding
• Reduce training intensity during the first 1–2 weeks of heat exposure
• Take breaks in the shade when needed
• Monitor how you’re feeling and adjust accordingly
• Most importantly, be patient with the process

Many athletes get frustrated when their pace, power, or heart rate doesn’t match what they’re used to seeing in cooler weather. Heat adaptation is a physiological process, not a fitness test. Give your body time to make the necessary changes and you’ll often find that training becomes much more manageable after a couple of weeks.

Don’t judge your fitness based on your first hot ride. Judge it by how your body responds after you’ve given it time to adapt.

At RehabIT Concierge Physical Therapy, we help athletes understand their bodies, train smarter, and stay healthy so they can keep doing what they love.

1. Get warm + hydrate
Don’t stay cold and depleted. Change into dry clothes ASAP and start rehydrating with electrolytes.
2. Refuel with protein (+ carbs)
Your muscles just took a beating—give them what they need. I like Skratch Labs, and I’ve also been adding creatine to support recovery and strength. Don’t skip carbs here—they help replenish what you just burned.
3. Go to bed early
Sleep is where the real recovery happens. Prioritize it.
4. Next day: keep it light
Easy spin or movement in Zone 1/2 for ~45 minutes. Think circulation, not performance.
5. Keep moving (don’t just sit all day)
Light walks, mobility work, or just staying loose will help you feel better faster than being glued to the couch.

No magic tricks, just doing the basics really well.

Recover hard so you can get back after it

Yesterday was the first time I’ve had to do CPR for real. That wasn’t the game plan when I went to race. It was an eye opening experience to say the least. I want to turn that experience into a positive one and encourage all my followers to get CPR certified.

We’re often riding in the middle of nowhere far away from EMS or a hospital having people you ride with that know COR could save your life or the life of one of your buddies.

Be safe out there.
