Achy knees in midlife? You can still train your legs hard! You just need a good fabric band and the right exercises. Fiona Judd, PFT, NC | Midlife Fat Loss Coach
Here’s a knee-friendly leg workout using just a fabric mini band — no squats, no lunges, no joint drama.
**1. Standing Knee Lift (Hip Flexion)** — drives hip flexor and core strength while keeping all load off the knee joint.
**2. Standing Glute Kickback** — isolates the glute with zero knee compression. Your b***y will feel this one immediately.
**3. Lateral Band Walk** — strengthens the glutes and hips, which are your knees’ best support system. Keep your legs mostly straight with knees soft.
**4. Internally Rotated Calf Raise** — targets the inner calf and improves ankle stability, which directly affects knee tracking and alignment.
**5. Seated Leg Lift/Side Press** — builds quad and outer thigh strength in a completely joint-friendly position.
**6. Side Lying Leg Kicks Front/Back** — works the hip flexors and glutes through a full range of motion with no joint stress at all.
**7. Side Lying Bottom Leg Lift** — targets the inner thigh and hip adductors — muscles that support knee stability and often get completely ignored.
**8. Prone Hamstring Curl** — hamstrings are your knee’s best friend. Strengthening them is one of the best things you can do for long-term knee health.
Do 3 rounds of 12-15 reps each. Save this for your next lower body day. 👇
Knee issues should never be a reason to skip leg training — they’re usually a reason to train smarter. Strong glutes, hamstrings, and hips are literally what keep your knees healthy long term, and this will help you work towards pain-free squats and lunges.
