Down East Psychiatry and Wellness

Down East Psychiatry and Wellness Down East Psychiatry and Wellness offers Psychiatric medication management, brief counseling and wellness coaching by Donna Shelton, PA-C.

I have been practicing Psychiatric medication management since 2009 and have decided to open my own practice where we can focus on YOUR well being in the manner that best suits your individual needs, not the needs of insurance companies or giant, "big box" medical groups. I have no staff which means you only deal with me and will never get lost in the chaos of a large practice. My areas of experie

nce and interest include General Psychiatry, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Psychotic Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Substance Abuse/Dependence and caring for those with serious medical illnesses and for their loved ones.

Did you know that 1 in 8 men experience depression or anxiety? But most never seek help.

Not because they don't struggle but because somewhere along the way, they learned that struggling wasn't allowed.

Men's Mental Health Month exists to challenge that. To say clearly: asking for help isn't a weakness. It's one of the harder things a person can do.

At GoodTherapy, we believe everyone deserves access to a therapist who gets them. So if you're a man who's been putting it off, this month is a good reason to start.

If you're a therapist, this month is a good time to make sure men know your door is open.

Up to 1 in 5 mothers experience mood or anxiety symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum. These changes are common, treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or not like yourself, support is available. At Downeast Psychiatry & Wellness, we’re here to help mothers feel seen, supported, and cared for.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
At Downeast Psychiatry & Wellness, we honor the courage it takes to care for your mind, ask for support, and choose healing even on the days it feels hardest.

This month, we’re highlighting the truth that mental health is health.
Not a weakness. Not a character flaw. Not something you have to navigate alone.

Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, or simply trying to understand yourself better, your experiences are valid and deserving of care.

What we invite you to practice this month:
- Check in with yourself with honesty and compassion
- Reach out when things feel heavy
- Celebrate small steps forward
- Offer grace to yourself and others

You deserve support that is evidence‑based, respectful, and grounded in real understanding. We’re here for you.
