you prepare for birth, but what about feeding? 🍼🤱🏻

“we’ll see how it goes and reach out if we need it” — we hear this a lot. and totally get it, there’s a lot to prepare for.

but here’s what we hear just as often from second-time parents: they wish they’d prepared for feeding the same way they prepared for birth.

feeding doesn’t have to be a “figure it out later” plan. join us this september and walk in ready — whatever feeding looks like for you.

bring your partner — this one’s for both of you.

easy corn, avocado + tomatoe salad 🥑
black beans + corn + avocado + cherry tomatoes + a big handful of cilantro, finished with lime, olive oil, and salt. that’s it. five minutes, zero stove time, and it holds up in the fridge for days.
we scoop it up with tortilla chips, pile it next to whatever protein we’re having for dinner
comment PREP and we’ll send you the full recipe

This week, we shared the stories that shaped each of us into the providers we are today.
Stories of self-doubt, resilience, vulnerability, and growth.
But the heart of this series was never our stories.
It was yours.
Every parent deserves to feel supported, heard, and empowered throughout their feeding journey—whether you’re preparing for your baby’s arrival, navigating challenges, celebrating milestones, or wondering what comes next.
If our stories have taught us anything, it’s this:
You were never meant to do this alone.
💛 If you’re looking for compassionate, evidence-based lactation support, we’d be honored to walk alongside you.
✨ Comment “INSURANCE” below, and we’ll send you the link to verify your lactation benefits.
Or give us a call at 760-274-0149—we’d love to help.
Thank you for following along with us this World Breastfeeding Week.💛

“Breastfeeding is natural. It shouldn’t hurt.”
That’s what I believed when I became a mom in 2020.
So when breastfeeding was painful from the very beginning, I wondered if something was wrong with me.
When I finally shared how much pain I was in, I was told I was simply “too sensitive” to breastfeed.
That experience changed me.
It showed me how powerful it is to feel heard, believed, and supported during one of the most vulnerable seasons of parenthood.
It’s also one of the reasons I became a Certified Lactation Counselor.
💛 As part of our World Breastfeeding Week series, we’re sharing the stories behind the people who care for yours.
My hope is that every family we support feels listened to, respected, and empowered to make the feeding decisions that are right for them.

I thought being an IBCLC meant I’d know exactly what to do…
After years of helping families navigate breastfeeding, I assumed I’d be prepared for my own feeding journey.
Then I became a mom.
In those early weeks, I struggled with my milk supply, and for the first time, I found myself on the other side of the visit.
I’ll admit it—I hesitated to ask for help.
As healthcare providers, we’re so used to supporting others that it can feel surprisingly vulnerable to admit we need support ourselves.
But I’m so grateful I reached out.
My team reminded me of something I’ll never forget: breastfeeding was never meant to be something we navigate alone.
That experience didn’t just make me a mother.
It made me a more empathetic IBCLC.
Today, I understand even more deeply how emotional feeding can be, how much courage it takes to ask for help, and how powerful it is to simply have someone beside you who listens without judgment.
💛 As part of our World Breastfeeding Week series, we’re sharing the stories behind the people who care for yours.
Each member of our team has their own journey that shaped the way they care for families. This is mine.
If there’s one thing I hope every parent takes away, it’s this:
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You don’t have to do it alone.

“I thought breastfeeding was going well.”
I had prepared for birth. I had taken the classes, read the books, and met with a lactation consultant in the hospital.
Then we went to my daughter’s first pediatrician appointment.
She had lost a significant amount of weight.
I remember feeling devastated. I questioned everything I was doing and carried so much guilt, wondering if I had unknowingly failed my baby.
Looking back now, I don’t wish my story had a different ending because formula was somehow the “wrong” choice. My daughter was fed, healthy, and deeply loved.
What I wish is that I had known I wasn’t alone.
I didn’t know outpatient lactation support existed. I didn’t know there were more options, more resources, and more people ready to help after we left the hospital.
That experience changed the way I see feeding support—and it’s one of the biggest reasons I became an IBCLC.
Today, I have the privilege of walking alongside families during one of the most vulnerable and meaningful seasons of their lives. My goal isn’t to tell you what your feeding journey should look like. It’s to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in the journey that’s right for your family.
💛 In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, we’re sharing the stories behind the people who care for yours.
Each member of our team has a different journey that led them to this work, but we all share the same belief: every family deserves compassionate, evidence-based support, and no parent should have to navigate feeding alone.
✨ Read Crystal’s full story through the link in our bio, and follow along this week as we introduce another member of the Whole Women Nutrition team each day.
I’d love to know—what’s one piece of feeding advice or support you wish you’d received sooner?

I realize it was never really about breastfeeding.
It was about a young mom who desperately wanted to know she was enough.
That experience shaped not only my own motherhood journey, but the way I care for families today as a Registered Dietitian and IBCLC. It taught me that while feeding goals matter, a parent’s worth is never defined by how their baby is fed.
That belief became the foundation of Whole Women Nutrition.
💛 In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, we’re doing something a little different.
This week, we’re pulling back the curtain and sharing the humans behind the practice.
Each day, you’ll meet one member of our team and hear the personal journey that led them to become an IBCLC. Every story is different. Some are joyful, some are challenging, and all of them have shaped the compassionate, evidence-based care we provide today.
We hope these stories remind you that before we supported your feeding journey, many of us were navigating our own.
If you’ve ever wondered who we are, what drives us, or why we’re so passionate about this work, we can’t wait to share.
✨ You can read my full story at the link in our bio, and follow along this week as we introduce the incredible women who make up the Whole Women Nutrition team.
Because every feeding journey deserves support.
And every parent deserves to know they are enough. 💛
