Motherhood has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for me; from pregnancy though birth and postpartum.
It hasn’t been without its challenges, of course, from Amoura’s tongue and lip tie procedure and recovery, to exclusively pumping, to huge shifts in our business, finances, and all that comes with the complexity of being business owners while raising a family (including no maternity leave!). I’ve gone from being an athlete my whole life to mostly sedentary for 3 months, I’m experiencing the all too common pelvic floor dysfunction that many women have to heal from after birth (hello sneeze and p*e my pants), and my body has never felt so far from the way I previously knew it.
Yet, I feel that the narrative in our culture around motherhood lately has been one of negativity. When speaking about our experiences, we tend to focus on the hardships and the tough moments for that sense of validation and connection. Which I understand, there is a time and a place for these conversations. I also feel that women need to see the full range of what’s available to them in motherhood. The joys, the love, and the transformation.
I’m committed to showing up and focusing more on that narrative as motherhood continues to unfold for me. The beauty that’s available to us in this role when we do the work to become the best version of ourselves for our own evolution and the future of our children.
What we focus on grows, let’s focus on the parts our ourselves and our stories that nurture us and light the way for others. 🌹🦋✨
