If I could talk to my 20-year-old self, these are the Chinese habits I would tell her to start sooner.
💆🏻♀️ Stop sleeping with wet hair. in TCM, cold and dampness easily enter through the scalp and slowly affect sleep, circulation and energy.
🫖 Begin your mornings with warm water. Your digestion wakes up more gently, and your body responds differently over time.
🧦 Keep your feet, neck and lower abdomen warm. Warmth protects energy. Cold tends to slow everything down.
🥘 Eat cooked foods when your body feels depleted. Soups, broths and congee nourish in a way cold foods often can’t.
⏰ Slow down while eating. Chewing properly and eating without distraction changes digestion more than most people realize.
🫚 Use food as support, not only supplements. Ginger, red dates, goji berries, bone broth… Small rituals matter.
🛌 Respect the 11pm sleep window. According to Chinese Medicine, this is when the body enters deeper restoration.
🧘 Rest more around your cycle. Your body is already doing important work internally.
🚶♀️Choose softer movement sometimes. Walking, stretching, qi gong. not every season of life needs intensity.
Walk after meals. One of the simplest ways to support digestion and energy flow.
🤓 Pay attention to emotional patterns. emotions affect the body more deeply than we think.
💊 Stop treating symptoms like inconveniences. Your cycle, your sleep, your energy levels… the body is always communicating.
Some habits don’t seem important until you realize how much they shape the way you feel every day.
