Stay safe in the heat - wear loose, light-colored clothing, stay hydrated, and cool off in air conditioned spaces. If you need a space to get cool, visit a Broome County Cooling Center.

🌞 **HEAT SAFETY REMINDER** 🌞

With temperatures on the rise, your local ambulance service wants to remind everyone to take a few simple precautions to stay safe in the heat.

💧 **Drink plenty of water** throughout the day—even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid relying on iced tea, coffee, energy drinks, or alcohol, as these can contribute to dehydration.

👕 **Dress for the weather.** Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, and don't forget sunscreen and a hat if you'll be outdoors.

🚨 **Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.** Review the attached graphic so you can recognize the warning signs in yourself or others. Heat stroke is a medical emergency—call **911 immediately** if you suspect someone is experiencing it.

❤️ **Check on those who may be at greater risk,** especially elderly neighbors, family members, young children, and anyone with chronic medical conditions. A quick phone call or visit could make all the difference.

☀️ Whenever possible, stay in air-conditioned buildings, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and take frequent breaks if you must work outside.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

As we enter Year Two with our greenhouse, we are excited about the opportunities ahead and the positive impact they will have on the individuals we support and our community.

We have several collaborations and partnerships on the horizon that will help expand opportunities, strengthen community connections, and create meaningful experiences for those we serve.
