I appeared on CBS recently for Parkinson’s Awareness Month (April).
One of the greatest challenges I face as a neurosurgeon is the lack of awareness, the fear, and the stigma around the life-changing - but routine! - procedures I perform. For example, only 15% or so of Parkinson’s patients who would benefit from deep brain stimulation (DBS) ever have the surgery performed. We’re hoping to inch that number upwards with awareness features like this one.
