Being a teenager is hard. Being the parent of one is too.

Underneath the slammed doors and the one-word answers, most teens are trying to say the same thing: I want to connect with you. I’m just not sure it’s safe to.

These are the themes I hear again and again, the things teens can’t always say to your face. Swipe through. Maybe a few resonate with you and your teenager.

Which one hits closest to home? I would love to learn more from your story. Tell me below if you’re comfortable, or send me a DM.

You’re not lazy. You’re not failing. You’re running on empty and calling it “fine.”

Here’s the cruel joke about high-achiever burnout: you’re usually the last person to notice it. You’re still hitting deadlines. Still showing up. Still being told how impressive you are. Meanwhile, something underneath is quietly running out of road.

Swipe through the 7 signs. If you see yourself in a few of them, that’s not a verdict. It’s information, and a really good place to start. 🤍

You can’t out-hustle exhaustion. That’s like trying to fix dehydration by running faster.

Follow for no-judgment takes on mental health, therapy, and the inner life of high-achievers.

Some days you feel both at once. Proud of how far you've come and wrecked by how hard it still is, sometimes in the same breath.

That's not you failing. That's you being human, fully and honestly. The hard and the amazing aren't opposites; they live right next to each other.

If today is a both-at-once kind of day, you're not doing it wrong. You're doing the thing. Keep going.

In honor of Father’s Day, I’m sharing the best of my dad’s advice and the quotes that stuck. Some are funny, some are a little crude, all of them are him. Swipe through. Maybe one of them lands for you too. 😎 To every dad still here, and to the others we carry with us, Happy Father’s Day!

Your AI will never tell you you’re wrong. Feels amazing, right?
That’s the problem. Millions are now telling AI things they’ve never said out loud. I get it, it’s free, instant, and there at 2am. And if you’re leaning on it to cope? You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re being human. But here’s my clinical read: AI is a great tool. A 2 am pocket coach for a breathing exercise? Amazing. But it never disagrees with you. It mirrors your story right back, distortions and all, validating the exact thoughts keeping you stuck. A therapist would gently push back. AI just nods along. That can feel incredible and be quietly dangerous. So I don’t resist it. I work with it. Using AI between sessions? Bring it in, no judgment, so we can look at it together. My line: AI is a tool, not a therapist. It can’t sit in the hard silence, read your body language, or stay curious about your whole story. Those parts are still ours. You don’t have to figure this out alone. When you’re ready, let’s freaking go. — Benjamin Bunte, LPCC, MA-CMHC · Bunte Behavioral Health · Englewood (Inverness), CO + telehealth across Colorado

Your brain isn’t broken. It’s different. And different isn’t less.

“Neurodivergent-affirming” gets thrown around a lot, so here’s what it actually means in my office: we stop asking “how can I make you act more neurotypical?” and start asking “how can life work for YOUR brain?”

That looks like systems built around your wiring instead of against it. Unloading years of “why can’t you just___.” A place where the mask can come off. And accommodations are treated as what they are: glasses for your brain, not crutches.

No formal diagnosis needed. Self-identified, late-discovered, or just starting to wonder? You’re welcome here either way.

You were never the problem. The fit was.

I have ADHD myself, and I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy for teens (12+), adults, and couples in Englewood and via telehealth across Colorado. When you’re ready — link in bio. Let’s freaking go.
