Immense Congratulations to Denver Fertility Care's Embryologist Evelyn Llerena Cari, PhD, HCLD on earning a High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director Professional Board Certification "As a woman, scientist, embryologist, and mother, becoming a High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) represents much more than a professional certification. It represents an opportunity to continue supporting women and families as they pursue their dreams of building a family.
Today, many women dedicate years to their education, careers, and personal growth before feeling ready to start a family. Unfortunately, reproductive biology does not always follow the same timeline, and many women find themselves trying to conceive as their ovarian reserve begins to decline.
During my research at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, my work focused on ovarian reserve and the activation of primordial follicles. At that time, there were no established approaches capable of preserving ovarian reserve indefinitely. This reality has strengthened my commitment to the women who entrust us with one of the most personal and meaningful journeys of their lives: becoming mothers.
Becoming an HCLD also means embracing the responsibility of laboratory leadership - supporting talented laboratory professionals while ensuring that our systems, key performance indicators (KPI), quality standards, regulatory practices, and daily decisions remain centered on providing the highest standard of patient care.
To me, the HCLD credential is not simply initials after my name. It represents scientific integrity, responsibility, leadership, mentorship, and service. Most importantly, it provides me with a greater opportunity to advocate for women, support their family-building journeys, and help advance the field of reproductive medicine.
I am grateful for the journey that brought me here and excited for the responsibility of what comes next. I am deeply honored to have earned this certification. "
