This patient underwent a High SMAS Deep Plane Facelift with full incision and platysmaplasty.

The goal was to restore definition through the cheeks, jawline, and neck while maintaining natural facial proportions.

At 6 months, the result shows a more defined lower face and neck with a refreshed, natural appearance.

Every facelift is customized to the patient’s anatomy, skin quality, and individual goals.

Why More Filler Isn't Always the Answer

As we age, facial fat doesn't simply disappear. Some of it can descend as the deeper structures supporting the face change, contributing to jowling, deeper lines, and a less defined jawline.

Filler can be excellent for replacing lost volume, but it can't lift tissue that has moved downward.

Adding more filler when the real issue is tissue descent can actually make the face look heavier rather than refreshed.

When the problem is structural, restoring the position of the deeper tissues may be a better approach than simply adding more volume.

Who Is Actually a Good Candidate for a Facelift?

Age alone doesn't determine whether you're a good candidate for a facelift.

Someone in their 40s can be an excellent candidate, while someone in their 60s may not be ready for surgery yet.

What matters more is how your face is actually aging. Descended cheeks, loss of jawline definition, jowling, and a neck that begins to blend into the jawline can all be signs that a facelift may be appropriate.

Skin quality also matters. Healthy skin with good elasticity can heal beautifully and help produce a natural result.

And just as importantly, your expectations matter. The best candidates aren't trying to look like someone else. They simply want to look like a more refreshed version of themselves.

How Does Your Face Actually Age?

Facial aging isn't simply about losing volume.

In your 20s, facial fat is supported higher on the face by strong ligaments and deeper facial structures, helping create full cheeks, a defined jawline, and smooth transitions throughout the face.

As we age, those deeper support structures loosen and fat pads can shrink and descend. This contributes to jowling, deeper folds, a softer jawline, and neck laxity.

That's why natural facial rejuvenation isn't always about adding more volume. The goal is often to restore the underlying structure and support that has changed over time.

Deep Plane Facelift + Neck Lift + Endoscopic Brow Lift + Lower Blepharoplasty with Laser

This comprehensive facial rejuvenation addressed multiple areas of the face while maintaining a natural overall appearance.

The goal was to restore definition, refresh the eyes and brow, and rejuvenate the lower face and neck without making the result look overdone.

The best results aren't about changing who you are. They're about looking refreshed, balanced, and like yourself.

How Long Does a Facelift Last?

Most facelifts last around 10 to 15 years, although how you continue to age depends on factors like genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle.

There also isn't one perfect age for a facelift. People in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s can all be candidates depending on how their face is aging.

And when a facelift is done well, it shouldn't make you look like you've had surgery. The goal is to make you look refreshed and well rested, not unnatural.

What Actually Ages Your Face?

Smoking, sun exposure, and weight fluctuations can have a much bigger impact on how your face ages than most people realize.

Poor sleep and chronic stress can also accelerate the aging process, while things like dehydration and facial expressions have a much smaller impact.

The biggest takeaway? Focus on the factors that actually move the needle rather than obsessing over every little wrinkle.
