Let’s be specific about what a “mommy makeover” actually addresses.
After pregnancy, two main changes happen: abdominal muscles separate and don’t reconnect on their own, and breasts lose volume or sag. A mommy makeover combines a tummy tuck to repair those separated muscles and remove loose skin, with breast surgery—augmentation, lift, or both.
What it’s NOT: weight loss surgery. The best candidates are at a stable weight and finished having children.
Timing matters. I recommend waiting at least six months after you’re done breastfeeding, so your body has stabilized. Recovery takes commitment—about six weeks before returning to full activity.
This isn’t about vanity. It’s about addressing changes that diet and exercise cannot fix.

After decades of performing facelifts, I can tell you: the goal has changed. Years ago, patients wanted to look “done”—tight, pulled, obviously rejuvenated. Now? Everyone wants natural. Modern facelift techniques address deeper tissue layers, not just skin. This creates longer-lasting results without that “windblown” look. You should look refreshed and rested, not different. The best facelifts are invisible. Friends might say “you look great” without knowing why. That’s the goal—restoring a more youthful version of you, not creating someone

Breast reconstruction after mastectomy isn’t just surgery—it’s part of healing. As plastic surgeons, we work closely with breast cancer surgical teams to plan reconstruction, whether immediate at the time of mastectomy or delayed. There are multiple approaches: implant-based, using your own tissue like a DIEP flap, or a combination. What many don’t realize: by federal law, insurance must cover breast reconstruction, including procedures on the opposite breast for symmetry. This isn’t considered cosmetic—it’s recognized as medically necessary. Every case is unique. Factors like radiation therapy, body type, and personal preference shape the approach. My role is explaining options clearly so you can make the decision that’s right for you.

The “mommy makeover” gets a lot of attention, but let’s be specific about what it actually addresses. After pregnancy, two main changes happen: stretched abdominal muscles that don’t bounce back, and breast volume loss or sagging. A mommy makeover typically combines a tummy tuck to repair those separated muscles and remove loose skin, with breast surgery—either augmentation, lift, or both. What it’s NOT: a weight loss procedure. The best candidates are at a stable weight and done having children. Timing matters too. I recommend waiting at least six months after you’re finished breastfeeding, so your body has stabilized. Recovery takes commitment—about six weeks before you’re back to full activity
