Your spine isn’t something you want to take chances with 🚨👀

As a spine surgeon, there are certain everyday activities I’m a lot more cautious about… not because you need to live in a bubble, but because a split-second decision can sometimes lead to a serious injury 👎

From jumping into unfamiliar water to riding a motorcycle or trying to move a massive couch by yourself… some risks just aren’t worth taking ‼️

Take care of your spine now so you can keep doing the things you love later 🧠

A great testimonial even when short and sweet is always a big win for us. Mr. K gets right to the point in Polish. We celebrate another ‘W’. Congrats Mr. K!!

Please join us in welcoming Ranim Aboushaar, PA-C, to The Institute for Comprehensive Spine Care! 💙

Ranim earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, where she majored in Biology.

Before becoming a PA, Ranim worked as an EMT, where she developed her passion for medicine and patient care. Her interest in hands-on specialties led her to spine care, where she looks forward to helping patients navigate their treatment journey and improve their quality of life.

Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.

We’re excited to have Ranim on our team and look forward to the care and dedication she’ll bring to our patients! ✨

Sometimes even I am amazed by how quickly patients recover after undergoing major spine procedures. In this case, our patient made a remarkable recovery after just 12 days following anterior – posterior lumbar spine surgery. By getting her spine realigned and decompressed, her symptoms dissipated very quickly, and she has a remarkable improvement in the quality of her life. This truly demonstrates how gratifying taking care of our patients can be. Overjoyed for Puebla. Keep it going!!

Do you think you’re doing what’s best for your spine???

Some everyday habits may seem harmless, but the way you lift, sit, carry things, sleep, and respond to pain can all make a difference when it comes to your spine health.

The good news? Small changes can go a long way.

✔️ Use your legs when lifting
✔️ Move around instead of staying in one position for hours
✔️ Distribute weight evenly
✔️ Avoid twisting while lifting
✔️ Pay attention to persistent pain and other symptoms

You don’t have to completely change your lifestyle to take better care of your spine. Sometimes it’s just about making smarter choices throughout the day 🙂‍↕️

Which one of these are you guilty of 👀👇

IS shares his story about his experiences with us after undergoing multiple level cervical fusion. What’s notable is how much motion is preserved in his cervical spine in the setting of a 4-level cervical fusion. He’s back at work and has minimal limitations in his life overall. His story can serve as a guide for patients with cervical pathology to see what’s possible after having your pathology addressed.

SV shares his experiences and progress with us following multilevel lumbar laminectomy. He’s had an excellent postop recovery. During his follow up visit, he specifically expressed his wife’s appreciation to us for his progress and how the quality of their lives together has improved significantly 😉. To Ms. SV…. You’re welcome!! 🎆🕺🏽💃🏽

7 things I want you to know before your 50s and 60s 🦴

1️⃣ Strength matters more than you think
Maintaining your core, back, and leg strength helps provide support and stability for your spine as you age.

2️⃣ Don’t wait for pain to start moving
Regular movement and exercise can help maintain mobility, strength, and function. Your spine was designed to move.

3️⃣ Your bone health matters
Bone density can decrease with age, increasing the risk of fractures. Talk to your doctor about your bone health, especially as you get older.

4️⃣ Being “active” isn’t enough if you’re not getting stronger
Walking is great, but maintaining muscle mass becomes increasingly important as you age. Strength training can play an important role in keeping your body supported.

5️⃣ Small injuries can become bigger problems when ignored
Persistent back or neck pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness shouldn’t simply be written off as “getting older.”

6️⃣ Your lifestyle affects your spine
Smoking, excess weight, inactivity, poor sleep, and other lifestyle factors can all contribute to your overall musculoskeletal health.

7️⃣ Getting older does NOT automatically mean living with back pain
Degenerative changes on an MRI are common with age, but they don’t automatically mean you need treatment—or that pain is inevitable. Your symptoms, examination, and imaging all matter.

Your spine is something you’ll have to live with for the rest of your life. The best time to start taking care of it isn’t when you’re already having a problem—it’s now.

What’s one thing you wish you had started doing for your spine sooner???
