Forest Counseling would like to share a warm welcome to all the students going back to school in the upcoming weeks.

It's exciting, and sometimes nerve-wracking, for both students and family members as schedules change and new norms have to be established. When it feels hectic, remember to "start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can." Encourage your children to do the same. Life may not be perfect, or look the way we envision, but we can start by taking a little bit of pressure off of ourselves and those around us.

If you, or your child, would like support in managing stress, consider Forest Counseling. Visit forestcounseling.org or call 814-482-2209 to learn more.

Here are some suggestions on how to help your kids fall asleep and have higher quality sleep. Other tips include providing calming scents, a nutritious diet, and limiting water before bed time. However, remember to be patient with your children, and yourself, as your family adjusts to new schedules for the school year.

If you think there's a deeper issue keeping your little one awake, consider Forest Counseling and our expert clinical mental health therapists. Visit Forestcounseling.org or call 814-482-2209 to learn more.

There are no inherently bad kids; often it's just complicated emotions being expressed in ways that can be frustrating and upsetting. For example, when kids "talk back", it can make parents feel like their kids don't respect them. However, it's often more complicated than that.

There's a variety of reasons why children "talk back", but it may be because they're feeling overwhelmed, trying to establish their own independence, or are repeating behaviors they've seen in others.

So, how can parents respond in a healthy manner? Take time to cool down before responding, model healthy ways to release anger, check in with your child to see if there's anything deeper going on.

If you're interested in therapy for you or your child, consider Forest Counseling and our expert mental health workers. Learn more by visiting forest counseling.org or calling 814-482-2209.

There are no inherently bad children. Often children are dealing with issues that they don't have the tools to cope with, or explain to adults, what is happening in their minds and bodies.

As the school year is coming up soon, Forest Counseling wants to remind parents that if your student is having troublesome behaviors, or is failing certain subjects, that doesn't mean you are a "bad" parent. However, it is a sign that something deeper might be going on.

If you're interested in therapy for you or your child, consider Forest Counseling and our expert mental health workers. Learn more by visiting forest counseling.org or calling 814-482-2209.
