In our clinic, we often see patients squeeze their quads as hard as they can, look down at the table, and say:
"Look! It's completely straight!"
But as our PT team often reminds our community: Just because your knee looks straight, doesn’t mean it’s at 0 even a tiny 3 to 5 degrees of extension lag can cause a limp, overload your kneecap, and keep your leg muscles from firing the way they were designed to.
True recovery isn’t about forcing joint movement through sheer effort—it’s about restoring the natural alignment your body needs so every step feels effortless again. 🌿👟💬 Are you working on getting your full stride back? Drop a question below—our team is always here to help!

Welcome to Page 2 of our clinic notebook. 📖✨

Healing is rarely a straight, smooth line upward. It looks a lot more like a winding mountain trail—with small dips, unexpected bumps, and steady climbs.

A temporary flare-up isn't a failure; it’s just feedback. It tells us where your tissue capacity is right now and what we need to adjust to help your body adapt.

The strength you built yesterday, last week, and last month didn't magically disappear because of one tough afternoon. You are still moving forward, even on the days you have to slow down. 🌿👟

If today feels like a challenging day in your recovery, take a deep breath and look back at where you started. You’ve come much further than you think.

💬 What is a small win in your movement journey that you’re proud of lately? Celebrate it in the comments below!

If you've walked through the front doors of Physical Therapy Center of Erie, you might know our clinic owner, Ann Kramer. What you might not know is that one of her all-time favorite children’s books is Just Because by Matthew McConaughey.
On the surface, it’s a sweet story for kids about life's little dualities and contradictions. But as a physical therapist, Ann couldn't help but see how deeply that mindset applies to healing, movement, and recovery.
Every day in our clinic, we hear people carry their own heavy "Just because" stories:
"Just because my knee hurts today, I must be getting worse."
"Just because I’m getting older, pain is just something I have to accept."
"Just because my MRI shows a tear, I must need surgery to fix it."
Ann wanted to create a space—and a series—that gently turns those assumptions in their head.
So, we’re opening up our clinic notebook. We’ll be sharing a weekly "Page" inspired by the Just Because philosophy: debunking common movement myths, offering gentle encouragement, and showing you the nuances of active healing.
Welcome to Page 1. Take a deep breath, leave your assumptions at the door, and join us on this journey. 💛

One of the best parts of our job is seeing people get back to the things they thought they couldn't do anymore.

It's not always about running a marathon. Sometimes it's playing with your grandkids, getting through a workday without back pain, or finally sleeping through the night without your shoulder waking you up.

Those wins never get old.

Thanks to everyone who trusts us with their care. We know you have options, and we're grateful to be a small part of your journey.
