This year's event featured family, friends, music, and an incredible sense of community as we continue to support memory care in our residence and help lift up the incredible foundations working tirelessly to drive research and funding toward curing the disease. ♥️💜💛

✨ Shining Through the Years: Resident Spotlight ✨

Every resident at LCB Senior Living brings a lifetime of experiences, accomplishments, and stories worth sharing. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re highlighting just a few, including Dr. François Clemmons, a groundbreaking artist, educator, performer, and civil rights pioneer whose story has reached generations of people.

François is best known to generations of viewers as Officer Clemmons on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, where he became one of the first Black actors to hold a recurring role on national children’s television.

One of his most memorable appearances came in 1969, when François and Fred Rogers shared a wading pool and towel on screen. At a time when racial segregation remained a reality in many communities, the simple moment delivered a powerful message of equality, friendship, and acceptance.

François’ remarkable career extends far beyond television. A classically trained opera singer and Grammy Award winner, he has performed around the world and spent decades sharing his extraordinary talent with others.
And he continues sharing that gift today, regularly singing for fellow residents. 🎶

✨ Shining Through the Years: Resident Spotlight ✨

Every resident at LCB Senior Living has a lifetime of experiences, talents, and stories worth celebrating. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re sharing just a few — including Diane Mott, an LCB Senior Living resident in Middlebury, VT whose creativity, patriotism, and sense of civic duty continue to make a meaningful impact.

At 91 years old, Diane has made it her mission to repair American flags throughout the country. Working from her kitchen table with her 1950s Singer sewing machine, she spends hours carefully mending worn and damaged flags, and happily repairs them again whenever they need a little extra care. 🇺🇸

Most recently she lovingly brought a rare 48-star flag back to good health (as seen in the video).

Her dedication has even earned her a fitting local nickname: the “modern-day Betsy Ross.”

Diane’s love of sewing began at a young age, learning from her mother and grandmother, who was a dress designer in New York City. Over the years, she carried those skills with her through a career in social work and later used them to alter and mend costumes for a local theater group.

Today, Diane continues to put those talents to work in service of others — one stitch at a time.

Our loose change is helping make some big change! Residents, associates, and families recently participated in a fun game of Penny Wars to help fundraise for the Alzheimer's Association.

We are excited to announce that our game raised more than $500! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this great cause. We had a great time making a difference!

Every resident at LCB Senior Living brings a lifetime of experiences, passions, and stories worth celebrating. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re sharing just a few... including Sister Barbara, whose life has been defined by service, faith, and connection.

This past August, Sister Barbara celebrated an incredible 75 years of devoted service with the Holy Union Sisters. Throughout those years, she has touched countless lives, and today, she continues to share that same spirit of generosity and purpose with those around her.

A true bright light, Sister Barbara generously shares her time and talents, leads resident engagements, and brings friendship, faith, laughter, and joy wherever she goes. During her recent celebration, she even picked up her guitar and shared her beautiful voice with the room, making an already meaningful occasion even more special.

Residents, friends, fellow Sisters, and loved ones filled the room to celebrate her — a beautiful reflection of just how many lives Sister Barbara has touched through the years.

✨ Shining Through the Years: Resident Spotlight ✨

Every resident at LCB Senior Living has a story shaped by a lifetime of experiences, accomplishments, and connections. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re sharing just a few of those stories, including that of Augustus “Gus” Pesce, whose lifetime of service and leadership continues to make an impact today.

A former U.S. Marine, educator, and longtime advocate for veterans, Gus was recently honored by the Massachusetts House of Representatives for his lifetime of service and leadership.

Presented with an official proclamation by State Representative Angelo Puppolo Jr., Gus was recognized for his military service, his advocacy on behalf of disabled veterans, and his distinguished career in education, where he served as a teacher, superintendent, and professor at American International College.

And his commitment to others hasn’t stopped in retirement. Gus continues to find meaningful ways to volunteer, support those around him, and make a difference within his community.

Gus is just one example of the remarkable stories found throughout LCB Senior Living. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re proud to celebrate the residents whose dedication, purpose, and impact continue to shine through the years. 🇺🇸

Every resident at LCB Senior Living brings with them a lifetime of experiences, accomplishments, passions, and stories that have shaped who they are. In honor of National Assisted Living Week, we’re celebrating the remarkable stories – each one a glimpse into the extraordinary lives within our communities.

Virginia “Ginnie” Gottshall has spent decades making a difference. A former journalist and devoted environmentalist, Ginnie’s advocacy began in 1987 during a pollution crisis that closed Long Island’s beaches. While volunteering with the Alliance for a Living Ocean, she noticed balloons washing ashore that were ultimately traced back to a White House Easter event.

Ginnie took action, writing to the White House about the environmental impact — and her advocacy helped bring an end to the balloon releases.

Her commitment to protecting the environment continued for decades, earning her recognition for marine conservation, volunteerism from the Governor of New Jersey, and, most recently, recognition from the National Arbor Society for her contributions.

Now 98 years young, Ginnie continues to champion the causes that matter to her and inspire those around her. 🌿💚

Ginnie’s story is just one of so many within LCB Senior Living... stories of purpose, perseverance, adventure, service, family, creativity, and lives well lived. This National Assisted Living Week, we’re proud to celebrate the residents whose stories continue to shine through the years.
