Friday Night Football has started.
&& you would have had so much fun hooting and hollering for “your” Tate last night.

His first sack came… then another, and another.
Then some damn good catches, too.
I can still hear your yell & know that fist woulda went up every single time.

What I would give to see your face & hear your voice as he plays varsity this year.

The sting of you being gone is learning how to carry these happy moments without absolutely losing it knowing you aren’t here to see them.

I know exactly how proud you’d be.
I can picture it so clearly.

I just wish I didn’t have to picture it.

Signed,
the mom who will be randomly crying all year because every “first” without you still feels like a punch to the gut.

Don’t get so busy looking at food as “good” or “bad” that you miss the memories it can hold.

My dad loved Crumbl Cookie. He brought it home almost every time he was near one.

I was never one to make sure we stopped there.

Until now.

Now, that pink box holds a memory. A cookie makes me think of him.
And for a moment, it feels like a tiny piece of him is still here.

This is the power food can have.

Food is fuel, yes.
It supports our health.
It gives our bodies what they need.

But food is also birthdays.
Holidays.
Family traditions.
Friday night pizza.
Grandma’s recipe.
Your dad’s favorite cookie.

There is absolutely a place for caring about nutrition, protein, portions, and the foods that help you feel your best.

But health was never supposed to require stripping food of everything else it means to us.

Sometimes the healthiest relationship with food is being able to eat the cookie without needing to justify it, earn it, burn it off, or call it “bad.”

Because one day, you may realize the calories were never the most important thing that cookie held.

Sometimes, it holds a memory.

Cable Crossover Glute Kickback 😘 my newest glute movement to hit my rotation.

I set up by stepping my non-working leg over the cable, then slightly hinge forward.

From there, kick your working leg back and out at an angle, keeping the movement slow and controlled.

I stand on a plate to give my foot more clearance and allow more range of motion given my height & the lowest pulley position.

Focus on squeezing your glute at the top instead of just trying to kick your leg higher.
Great for targeting the upper + outer glute.

Your nutrition doesn’t need a recipe to be delicious.

Prep 2 protein sources.
Prep 2 complex carbs.
Wash and cut up your fruits and vegetables.

That’s enough to mix and match into multiple satisfying meals all week long.

Simple doesn’t mean boring.
It means flexible, sustainable, and a whole lot easier to stay consistent.

Mom brain had me convinced I still had 120g of cooked chicken breast left in my fridge… 😅

Went to make lunch and realized I only had 32g. A sad moment indeed.

Instead of saying, “Forget it,” I pivoted.

I added 84g of Bare chicken nuggets so I could still hit 32g of protein for lunch and carried on with my day.

That’s what consistency looks like.

Not never making errors.

Just making the next best decision and moving on.

—Side note—
This is also why I no longer write meal plans that tell you exactly what to eat at every meal, down to the gram.

Because if all you know how to do is follow a plan, what happens when life doesn’t go according to plan?

You run out of food.
You forget to meal prep.
Dinner plans change.
The grocery store is out of something.

If I only teach you what to eat, I’ve taught you very little.

I’d rather teach you how to build a meal, how to hit your protein target, and how to pivot when things don’t go as planned.

Because that’s the skill that helps you stay consistent for years—not just until your meal plan ends.

This is a health & fitness page—but that’s hard to post about. While it’s still a huge part of my life, I’m still living in the middle of a huge loss.

That hasn’t gotten any easier.

In fact, it’s probably gotten harder.

But you’re not going to understand until you’re smack dab in the middle of it…

The grief waves.
The guilt.
The “what ifs.”
Replaying every conversation.
Wondering if you missed something.
Wondering if you could’ve changed the outcome.

People will tell you it’ll get easier.

Maybe.

But right now, it just feels like learning how to live in a world that keeps moving while yours keeps pulling you back.

Back to the hospital.
Back to the phone calls.
Back to the text messages.
Back to the memories.
Back to the person you miss every single day.

If you’re in it too…

I see you.

I am with you.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that in seasons like this, you don’t need to control everything—you just need something to hold onto.

For me, that’s my health habits.

Not because I’m chasing a specific goal.

Because when everything else feels uncertain, nourishing my body, moving it, and taking care of it..are the few things that still feel within my control.

Before you say you need a fat loss phase because you’re in a funk…

Have you looked at the trends of your habits?

Before jumping into a calorie deficit, ask yourself:

• Have I been tracking my food & hitting my protein target?
• Has my step count changed?
• Am I still strength training?
• How has my sleep been?
• Have I slowly started eating out more or mindlessly snacking?

A lot of the time, it isn’t that your body suddenly stopped responding.

It’s that your habits quietly drifted.

A fat loss phase can absolutely be the right tool—but not before you know whether your current habits are actually supporting your goals.

👇 Which habit tends to slip first when life gets busy: protein, workouts, steps, sleep, or nutrition in general?

These five photos tell a story.

Not of someone who finally “figured it out.”

But of someone who’s been learning since 2015.

In 2015, I thought I just needed to lose the weight.

And I did.

But I also believed the answer was more cardio, eating less, and cutting out foods. I even convinced myself animal protein was holding me back and went vegan because I truly thought it was the healthier choice.

From the outside, it looked like success.

I lost the weight.

But it was exhausting to maintain.

Date nights came with guilt.
Birthday cake came with anxiety.
I packed my own food everywhere I went.
Every workout had to “close a ring.”

Then I had my third baby.

I remember looking in the mirror thinking,

“F**k… I’m starting over.”

And honestly? I was terrified, because I didn’t want to repeat everything I’d done before.

What I know now is this:

I wasn’t starting over.

My journey was evolving.

For the last 11 years, my health journey has evolved right alongside me.

Through trial and error.
Through continuing education.
Through becoming a nurse coach.
Through coaching other women.
Through motherhood.
And through seasons that completely changed my perspective.

Every chapter taught me something the previous version of me didn’t know.

Today, I don’t believe health is about eliminating the foods you love.

I believe it’s about building a body that’s strong enough for life.

Fueling it well.
Protecting your muscle.
Building a physique you’re proud of.
Having the energy to make memories with your family.
Enjoying the date night food or birthday cake without guilt.

Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned since 2015…

Your health journey should evolve as you do.

The goal isn’t to become the leanest version of yourself.

The goal is to build a way of living that lets you enjoy your life while taking care of your health.

My opinions have become a lot more blunt as of late, so let’s talk about it.

1. Stressed. Eat. Bored. Eat. Sad. Eat. Overwhelmed. Eat.

Your labs might matter. I’m not dismissing that. But so do your habits. We can’t blame every struggle with our health on a lab value while ignoring the role food is playing in how we cope with life.

2. Most people aren’t lacking health information.

Knowing what to do and actually doing it when life gets stressful, busy, or inconvenient are two very different things.

3. Grace and accountability can exist at the same time.

You can acknowledge you’re in a hard season while also being honest about the habits that aren’t helping you. Sometimes you are the one getting in your own way.

4. Hunger doesn’t automatically mean your calories are too low. Soreness doesn’t mean your workout was effective. One bad week doesn’t mean your hormones are broken.

You can’t keep changing the plan every time you’re uncomfortable.

5. At some point, improving your health requires you to pay attention.

To your food. Your movement. Your sleep. Your stress.

You don’t have to track forever. But “I eat pretty healthy” isn’t data.

You can keep searching for a different answer.
Or you can get honest about what needs to change.
