Continuous labor support is an evidence-based tool that significantly improves outcomes.

Major medical organizations acknowledge that continuous, one-on-one support during labor is one of the most effective ways to improve your birth experience.

Here are some benefits:

πŸ’– A significant decrease in the risk of an unplanned cesarean.

πŸ’– A decreased need for medical pain relief or epidurals.

πŸ’– Shorter overall labor durations.

πŸ’– A reduction in the risk of low Apgar scores for your baby.

πŸ’– A significantly lower risk of reporting a negative birth experience.

But doulas do not replace birth education. You need both.

Think of it like running a marathon. Birth coaching prepares you for the marathon, and postpartum coaching catches you afterwards.

The doulas run alongside you during the marathon.

An ideal team would include a birth coach or educator, a doula, and lined up postpartum support.

When you place your baby directly onto your bare skin, incredible things happen:

πŸ’– Your chest temperature naturally rises or falls to perfectly regulate your baby’s body heat.

πŸ’– Their heart rate and breathing stabilize faster than they would in a warmer.

πŸ’– Your baby is exposed to bacteria on your chest, initiating the beginning of their microbiome.

πŸ’– The physical contact triggers a surge of oxytocin, which helps you safely deliver your placenta and reduces bleeding.

Unless your baby requires immediate resuscitation, there is no medical reason for them to leave your body.

The weight. The length. The footprints. The newborn exam.

All of it can wait. Or it can be done with your baby next to you on the bed.

Sometimes hospital staff prioritize their checklist.

Other times, they'll be supportive of the golden hour.

No matter how the team responds, as long as your baby is healthy, there is no need for them to be separated from you.

Informed consent is a living conversation.

Some providers choose to treat informed consent as an option.

When it should be the foundation for everything they do.

This approach to birth is fundamentally flawed and contributes to unnecessarily traumatic birth experiences.

We're viewing birth as a procedure rather than a normal physiologic event.

We're viewing care as boxes to check off on a chart rather than supporting a human being.

"I am going to check your cervix now." "We are going to start the Pitocin." "It is time to break your water."

That is not informed consent. Informed consent can be intact in any model of care, in any birth setting.

πŸ’– It is the difference between "I need to sweep your membranes" and "a sweep is an option today to encourage labor. Here are the risks and benefits. What would you like to do?"

πŸ’– It is presenting the actual evidence, rather than rattling off worst-case scenarios just to manipulate a quick yes.

πŸ’– It is pausing to let you think and discuss it with your partner.

πŸ’– It is accepting a "no" with the exact same level of respect as a "yes," without coercion.

One of the best things we can do to have a positive birth experience is find a provider who practices with informed consent intact. If you cannot find one of those providers, be sure to educate yourself.

Learn the risks, benefits, and alternatives to your options, and learn how to ask the right questions to be collaborative in your care.

This will help you feel empowered rather than feeling pressured into getting things you don't want or understand.

Birth is similar to or**sm.

It can’t be forced.

But it can blossom in the right container. 🌸

An or**sm requires patience, surrender, safety for oxytocin to flow.

Birth is the same.

You can create safety anywhere: at home, at a birth center, or at a hospital.

But it requires more than dim lights and essential oils.

It requires internal tools to relax, regulate your nervous system, and release control.

You don’t need generic advice, you need a strategy.

When the medical system stops offering vaginal breech birth, cesarean rates go up.

But do outcomes improve?

We have an insanely high maternal mortality rate.
We also have an insanely high cesarean rate.

Cesareans are much more dangerous for moms compared to vaginal births.

Since the year 2000 breech trial, providers trained in breech vaginal birth have been harder to access.

Surgery has become the norm.

There’s nothing wrong with getting a cesarean for a breach vaginal baby if that is what you want.

But parents deserve more options, not less.

An entire generation of obstetricians have lost the hands-on skill required to safely attend a vaginal breech delivery.

The reality is that access to planned vaginal breech birth in the hospital setting has almost entirely disappeared.

If you were to show up at a hospital right now, pushing out a breech baby, it is very possible no one would know what to do.

This does not make anyone safer.

✨So what does the data actually say?

Evidence based birth says that the risk for still birth increases from 1 in 1000 in a head down baby to 2 in 1000 in a breech baby.

The slight increase and risk may be worth the benefits of a vaginal birth, such as a decrease in the risk for maternal mortality.

Did you know I have a coaching program?

1:1 support throughout pregnancy, and lifetime access to group postpartum support.

With a promise that you will go into birth feeling confident and prepared. πŸ’—

β€œBecause of her guidance, I went into birth feeling educated, supported and empowered.”

I started with my first client 6 years ago during covid.

And have slowly grown alongside birthing my 2nd and 3rd child.

Every day is such a gift.

I do not have a job. Nothing feels like work. It is joy. ✨

A deep honor to guide families through pregnancy, and prepare them for one of the most transformational experiences of their lives.

Of the first 100:

πŸ’– 91% did not tear
πŸ’– 96% birthed unmedicated
πŸ’– 96% avoided cesarean

It works because it’s customized to you.

Birth prep isn’t just about learning, it’s about integration.

Building relationships with your fears, nourishing your nervous system, learning how to release control and navigate one of the most intimate experiences of your life.

I’ve had doulas and get this… obstetricians as clients!

Because even birth professionals that have a plethora of knowledge need:

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Personalized support in overcoming fear

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Nervous system nourishment and rewiring

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Integrating knowledge in a way that directly supports the kind of birth they want to have

My private coaching clients achieve birth outcomes 9x better than the national average.

Generic advice is not enough. You need a proven framework ✨
