Your birth education matters. 🤍

One of the sweetest details from this birth was seeing our client’s birth books right there beside her hospital bed. She brought the resources that had helped her prepare, learn, and build confidence for her birth.

Birth education isn’t about guaranteeing a certain kind of birth. It’s about knowing your options, understanding your choices, finding your voice, and having tools to lean on when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Our clients bring all sorts of things to comfort them through birth. Books, music, special or comfort items from home, affirmations, familiar scents, and so much more.

Your birth education comes with you, wherever and however you birth. 🤍

AI can be helpful. But when it comes to pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting, quick answers aren’t the same as personalized care. 💚

Next time you’re up at 2 a.m. frantically Googling, “Is this normal?” or “What am I supposed to do?” remember how valuable it is to have a doula and trusted support person you can text.

Our doulas can listen to what’s actually going on, help you make sense of the information, point you toward trusted resources, and help you figure out when it’s time to reach out to your care provider.

You don’t have to rely on a search bar to navigate every question, worry, or unknown. Let someone who knows YOU help. 🥑

AI can give you information. A doula can give you personalized support, context, reassurance, resources, and a human connection.

Save this post for your next middle-of-the-night Google spiral. 🫶

Happy World Breastfeeding Week! 💚🥑

Feeding your baby is deeply personal, and every journey looks different. Whether breastfeeding comes naturally, requires extra support, includes pumping, formula, or a combination of feeding methods, you deserve encouragement, not judgment.

At Avocado Doulas, we’re here to be your resource, advocate, and biggest supporter through both the beautiful moments and the challenging ones. When feeding feels hard, confusing, or different than you imagined, you don’t have to figure it out alone. We can connect you with trusted lactation resources and help you navigate the next steps with confidence.

We’re also grateful to have Doula Roshny, our Certified Lactation Educator, as an added resource for all Avocado Doulas families. Whatever your feeding goals may be, we’re here to support them and help you adjust if your plans change once your baby arrives.

This World Breastfeeding Week, we celebrate every parent doing their best to nourish their baby. No matter what your feeding journey looks like, you are supported, you are seen, and you are never alone. 💚

Happy National Avocado Day! 🥑

Did you know avocados are often considered one of the best foods to enjoy during pregnancy?

Here are a few reasons why:

✨ Rich in Folate: Folate plays an important role in your baby’s early brain and spinal cord development.

💚 Healthy Fats: Avocados are packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fats that support your baby’s growing brain and nervous system.

🍌 Potassium: They actually contain more potassium than a banana, which may help support healthy muscle function and reduce leg cramps many pregnant people experience.

🌱 Fiber-filled: Pregnancy can slow digestion, and the fiber in avocados can help support regular bowel movements and gut health.

🥑 Essential Vitamins: Avocados also provide vitamins C, E, K, several B vitamins, and magnesium to help nourish both you and your growing baby.

Whether you enjoy them on toast, in tacos, blended into a smoothie, or simply with a sprinkle of salt, avocados are a delicious way to fuel your pregnancy.

Planning ahead starts here! 🥑

We’re so excited to share that we’ve officially booked our first 2027 client!

One of the biggest misconceptions about doula care is that you have to wait until your due date is just around the corner. In reality, many families begin planning months in advance to ensure they have the support they need when baby arrives.

Whether you’re newly pregnant, expecting in 2027, or already navigating life with your little one, it’s never too early to make a plan and never too late to ask for extra support. Our prenatal, birth, postpartum, and overnight doula services are here to meet you wherever you are in your parenting journey.

🌈 Happy Pride Month from Avocado Doulas! 🌈

There is no easy way to have a baby, but your identity and family structure shouldn’t make it harder.

In a system that often merely tolerates or even excludes, we affirm and celebrate. We’re here to help you navigate the myriad of complexities and nuances that come with your individual circumstances.

LGBTQIA+ families often have long, complex, and emotionally fraught journeys to parenthood, and we’re here for it. With open hearts and helping hands, we’re with you every step of the way.
What parents worry about, prepare for, and plan for when a new baby is coming is fundamentally the same across all types of families. At Avocado Doulas, our clients don’t need to explain their relationship, their identity, or their fertility journey. We know. We get it. And we’re in it with you.

We’ll be at Eugene Pride on Saturday, June 27 at the Lane Events Center! Come by our booth and say hi. We’d love to meet you and celebrate together. 💚🥑🏳️‍🌈

Postpartum isn’t meant to be done alone. At Avocado Doulas, we believe postpartum care should be soft, supported, informed, and never isolating. You and your family deserve care, too. 💚🥑

The early weeks after bringing home a baby can feel beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting, emotional, and deeply transformative all at once. New parents are often expected to “figure it out” while recovering physically, navigating sleep deprivation, feeding around the clock, and adjusting to an entirely new rhythm of life.

This is why postpartum support matters. New parents need:

1. Nourishment that’s easy to grab between feeds.
2. A stocked postpartum cart within reach.
3. Someone to remind you to drink water, rest, and breathe.
4. Hands to help with baby while you shower or nap.
5. Encouragement during the hard moments and reassurance during the uncertain ones.
6. Someone to share local resources with you in a compassionate way if extra support is needed.

These small systems and acts of care can make a huge difference in how supported and grounded a family feels during postpartum. 🥑✨

May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month 💛

Preeclampsia can become life-threatening quickly, and too many mothers are told their symptoms are “normal” or dismissed. One of our clients experienced severe preeclampsia after it was caught at a routine 33-week appointment, leading to multiple hospital visits, steroid shots for baby’s lung development, and an induction at 36+4 due to severe preeclampsia and IUGR.

Awareness matters. Advocacy matters. Early intervention saves lives.

During scary and unpredictable experiences like this, a doula can help you roll with the punches, stay grounded, feel informed, and supported every step of the way. 🥑
