Butter Bean Auction time! 🫘 Today our residents had a lot of fun at our auction. Each resident got 30 beans to use in order to bid for their favorite items. We had a big group participating today, so it was wonderful to see!🎉

This Week’s Wellness Win 🌿
Dimension of Wellness: Vocational Wellness
Activity: Sunny Day Craft Day ☀️🎨
Description: Today was a full day of creativity as our residents participated in a special Craft Day that began at 10:00 a.m. and continued throughout the day. We created cheerful “Hello Sunshine” door decorations for residents’ front doors using paper plates and colorful yellow paper, including different patterns to make each sun bright and festive.

We also finished our colorful flower paintings on black canvas that we originally started in July. Craft Day also gave residents the opportunity to return to projects from previous craft days and complete anything they had been working on. It was a productive day filled with creativity, purpose, and the satisfaction of seeing unfinished projects finally come together.

Vocational wellness is strengthened through meaningful activities that give residents opportunities to create, accomplish goals, and take pride in their work. Today was a wonderful reminder that sometimes the best part of a project is taking the time to finish what we started.

Dog days of summer : refer to the most hot, sultry, and inactive weeks of the summer season. Traditionally tracked from July 3 to August 11, Today our residents helped fight off the dog days of summer by crafting some easy colorful hand fans.

This Week’s Wellness Win 🌿
Dimension of Wellness: Intellectual Wellness
Activity: Wheel of Fortune Challenge 🎡🧩
Description: This week, our residents put their minds to work with a fun game of Wheel of Fortune! Residents worked together to solve word puzzles by guessing letters and uncovering the correct words and phrases. The game sparked conversation, friendly competition, and plenty of excitement as teams celebrated each solved puzzle.

Intellectual wellness is strengthened through activities that encourage critical thinking, memory, problem-solving, and communication. Games like Wheel of Fortune provide an engaging way for residents to exercise their minds while enjoying teamwork and laughter with friends.

Dimension of Wellness: Physical & Intellectual Wellness
Activity: Scratch-Off Challenge Game 🎟️🧠💪
Description: This week, our residents put both their minds and bodies to work during a fun scratch-off challenge! Residents scratched off a ticket to reveal a number, which corresponded to an activity or question. Depending on the number, they completed a physical action or answered a fun prompt, such as a "Would You Rather" question. After completing the challenge, they selected a points card worth 10, 20, 30, or 40 points. Teams continued taking turns until one team reached 400 points and claimed the victory!

To make the game even more exciting, the winning team received real scratch-off tickets as prizes. The excitement continued when one of our residents scratched off a $10 winner, making the celebration even sweeter! 🎉

Combining physical and intellectual wellness encourages residents to stay active while keeping their minds engaged. Friendly competition, movement, and laughter made this interactive game an exciting way to build teamwork and have fun together.

Activity: Ice Cream Truck Visit 🍦🚚
Description: This week, our residents celebrated National Ice Cream Day a little early with a special visit from an ice cream truck! Everyone had the opportunity to choose their favorite frozen treat and enjoy it while sharing smiles and happy memories. For residents who wanted to learn more, we also offered the chance to watch "How Ice Cream Is Made" on TV, adding a fun educational element to the celebration.

Emotional wellness is strengthened through moments of joy, comfort, and shared experiences. Simple celebrations like enjoying a favorite ice cream can brighten the day, spark happy memories, and create meaningful moments that bring smiles to everyone involved.

Today's afternoon activity in the Memory Care Unit was Horse Shoes!🐴 The residents had fun trying to throw the horse shoes as close as possible to the stake. The goal was to reach 11 points (1 point for each horse shoe that landed about 6 inches from the black target around the stake, and 3 points for every ringer) and the winner got a chocolate candy bar. For participating, everybody also got a piece of candy of their choice😋
