So many things about EDS/HSD can seem confusing, and the fact that a a lot of what is being said about these conditions isn’t true — not even if spoken with confidence — doesn’t help create clarity.
Many of my patients have been told that their “EDS will get better when they get (older and) stiffer”. This is a statement that reveals a lack of understanding hypermobility.
Stiffness and stability are two very different concepts. The former usually feel uncomfortable, the latter should be the goals of rehabilitation for hypermobility-related syndromes.
Have you ever been led to believe that stiffness is helpful?
