When I went to school to become a physical therapist, one of my professors said: ā€œSomeday you’ll find yourself watching how people walk down the street.ā€

He was right. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Movement tells us so much. Often pain isn’t caused by one big event, it’s the result of small habits and movement patterns repeated every day.

How you breathe, stand, sit, and move matters more than you think.

If pain keeps showing up, there may be a deeper pattern behind it. Physical therapy can help uncover it.

Do you find yourself going to the bathroom ā€œjust in caseā€ before leaving the house, running errands, or even when you don’t really have to go? 🚽

This habit can actually train your bladder to signal urgency sooner than it needs to. Over time, that can make urgency and frequency worse.

Watch this video to learn how often I actually recommend emptying your bladder — and why timing matters for bladder health.

Do you drink a large pot of coffee throughout the day? ā˜•šŸ‘€

If so, here’s a simple way to support your bladder: Try drinking one cup of water after each cup of coffee.

This helps dilute bladder irritants and can reduce urgency or irritation for some people. Small habits make a big difference.

If bladder symptoms are getting in the way of your day, let’s talk. Schedule an appointment today.

This summer marks 20 years of being a physical therapist! 🤩

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that soft tissue work is an art. It has taken time to learn how to apply just the right amount of pressure to help tight, knotted tissues release, without creating more pain.

Sometimes gentle and precise is more effective than aggressive. Healing doesn’t have to hurt.

If pain or tension has been lingering, physical therapy can help. Schedule an appointment to get started. I can’t wait to work with you!

Did you know your pelvic floor and diaphragm work together with every breath?

Breathing patterns can directly affect pelvic floor tension, coordination, and core strength. That’s why breathing exercises are often an important part of pelvic floor physical therapy.

Sometimes improving how you breathe can help improve how you move and feel overall.

Children and adolescents can experience pelvic floor concerns such as constipation, stool withholding, bed wetting, painful bowel movements, and daytime accidents. Sudden ā€˜skid marks’ are often dismissed as poor wiping habits but are often a sign of constipation.

Pediatric pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on helping kids develop healthier bowel and bladder habits through gentle, supportive, and non-invasive treatment approaches. Care often includes movement, breathing, positioning, education, nutrition support, and reducing the stress and shame that can build around these symptoms.

Helping kids feel comfortable and confident in their bodies is always the goal.
